Cletus Ganderfald
Cletus Ganderfald's challenge to Overlord Tareth Thorn came after an attack on his family that Cletus blamed on the Overlord. While not denying the Overlord's role in the affair, his close friend, G'nort Dragoon Talanador, claimed full responsibility for the attack. G'nort stated that the attack was merely payback due to Cletus' wife, Arane Nausikaa Ganderfald.
However, G'nort also wanted his chance with Cletus in the ring, and Tareth used this opportunity to have G'nort test Cletus. Cletus was of a different mindset and asked the Wardrac Bapheloctis to defend his right to challenge. In a lopsided affair, Baphe cleared the way for Cletus to meet his true target, Overlord Thorn.
Nearly one week later, the two met and Tareth jumped out to an early lead. After playing catch-up for three rounds, Cletus tied the score at two and then added three more as part of a five point run. After eight rounds were in the books, Cletus became the Sixty-seventh Overlord with a five to three victory. Although this battle was over, the feud continued for many months afterwards.
By virtue of his assistance, Baphe was awarded the Old Market Barony. And with his victory, Cletus became only the second man to hold the title of Overlord a third time. The first was three time Overlord, Xenograg kathu-Darelir.
With all of the Baron's loyal, Cletus waited nearly two months before the winner of the Winter 2006 intercession-free challenge, Karen Wilder, met him in the ring. Cletus opted for a single match duel, and nearly had it won until he let it slip away in the final two rounds.
Shortly after the match, Cletus ended his decorated dueling career with little fanfare.
