Duel of Swords
DoS Histories
Lucian
When Daegarth Mithmellon banished all loyal Barons to renegade, the response from Baron of the Eleventh Ring, Lucian, was a challenge for the mantle. The match was close, and the Overlord managed to pull out to a full point lead on numerous occasions. Lucian took his only lead of the match in the ninth round. Unfortunately for Daegarth, that made the score 5-4 and Lucian Overlord. Immediately after the match, Baron of the ninth, Sartan, chose to retire his ring rather than stand Renegade to his friend.
Lucian's first challenge came early in November by the hands of the Baron of the Thirteenth, Drey Starke. Lucian opted to test Drey, and used Warlord and friend, Sartan. In a grueling fifteen round match, Drey bested Sartan 6.5-5 to clear his challenge to take place. The strain from the previous match was very apparent in the Baron's movements. In eight short rounds, Lucian was able to make quick work of Drey and continue to hold the crown.
It took five months before Lucian would receive his next challenge. The gypsy, Jaycynda Ashleana, battled her way through the first quarter Warlord Tournament of 2001 to claim the free duel against the Overlord. Though later reported that the two were somewhat involved, Jaycy issued challenge and the two met. The two met in a best-of-three, and in the end, all three would need to be fought. The first match stretched twelve rounds, at the end of which, Jaycy had a one-match lead with a 5-4 win. Lucian tied things up in the second match with a 5-2 victory in eight rounds. In all came down to the rubber match, and it remained close until the seventh round. It was then that Jaycy scored two in a row to become the 43rd Overlord, or Overlady as the case may be.
