Outback News and Standings

DQ LXXXVII took place on Sunday night and saw 9 emeralds brawling to earn the title. Eden Parker took the long way around to make it to the final, dropping a first round bout to to Hope by score of 5-2 but then advancing past Apple (5-3), Kheldar (5-1), Claire (5-4) and Matt (5-1). Some half-elf who fancies himself a news writer from time to time fought his way through the winners bracket after knocking Kheldar, Claire and Matt down a bracket, taking the far easier route. When the two met to decide a victor, Eden continued her path of devastation and was almost perfect in a 5-1 win to set the two of us up for one final bout of the night. It could not have been closer. Off to a 3-1 lead after 5, Eden looked like she was going to roll through another win and take the prize, but then she failed to punch through some defenses and saw things get tied up, advancing to sudden death after the 10th. Eden threw a kick and I just barely got out of the way, the dodge and counter to end the night. It was a great bit of fighting from all involved, in the end Kalamere Ar'Din earns the diamond and puts a brand new name on the list.

A few nights later we held the Panther's Claw. A masquerade mini-mega-brawl this cycle, with a field of four masked participants: Tuxedo Rose, Sir Skellington, Kung Fu Panda and Medusa. Medusa unmasked Sir Skellington in the 7th to reveal Andu Kirost and then in the 12 it was Ammy Spiritor we found behind the mask of Tuxedo Rose. With only Medusa and Kung Fu Panda left, the gorgon scored in a trade of jabs and 2 snapkicks in the rounds that followed to unmask Jackson Gray and claim the Panther's Claw. When Medusa was finally revealed to take the tournament prize, we found Misery Postu. Congrats to all and thanks to Kheldar for another great event.

In the only bit of Opal news we have this week, we have the challenge for ShadoWeaver coming up tomorrow night (10/21). Koy looks to defend her hold on the black rock from KC with the bout starting around 9:30pm. Opal fights have been rare of late, so get out there and cheer on your favorite!
