Come play with us…
Now that Fort Hope has become Fort Nope, and the ghosts of Cadentia have long since been laid to rest, it is time once more for the return of A Wake for All Saints (Edition IV). This year, in cooperation with the Warden of Overlook, the fourth year of A Wake for All Saints will be held at the majestic Overlook .
As with years prior, there are two options for your approach, it simply depends upon how much adrenaline you wish to stir up before your arrival. For those seeking a sedate but scenic ride to the Overlook, spectral carriages await riders at various locations throughout the city. Simply find the waystations that are marked with an etching of a skull surrounded by an Autumn leaf. For a more cardio-intensive approach, follow the walking trail along the Fickle Roads across the grounds of the Overlook instead.
Ultimately, no matter your choice, you will arrive at your final destination: The Overlook.
True to its name, the Overlook looms upon the mountainside and watches over the valley below. Once a wayfaring hotel, the stark white walls were a soothing comfort for travelers, seen far and wide by those emerging from tumultuous river valley roads and perilous peaktop passes alike. Capped with an unmistakable roof, the mahogany reads rust red in the light of the moon, a red-cap reminder that, comforting though it may be, not all is as it seems for this wild hearth. Now a hospitable-but-secluded estate, it has been refashioned to welcome the Warden of Overlook and whomever they deem their guest(s) for the evening.
Once you arrive at the Overlook, decide where the evening may take you, for the choice is yours. Catch a glimpse of a single candle’s flame in the window of the old Carriage House? Feel free to explore (at your own risk) or head inside for a visit to the Shining Speakeasy to have a drink with the Overlook’s original owner. Looking for a scare? Venture up the grand staircase and find Room 712 and face your fears, or sneak through the boiler room to head down into the tunnels and caves beneath the manor for a ghost hunt.
No matter your choice of thrills, be sure to drop in to the Overlook’s ballroom for a dance and a bite to eat. Enjoy live music, signature cocktails, and the ever thrilling annual costume contest with judging categories for best solo, couple, group, scary, and silly costumes.
The party begins when the clock strikes nine and doesn’t end until the night’s last specters disappear with the dawn of All Saint’s Day. Unlike the ghosts of the Overlook, you can leave at any time, but feel free to stay (or come back!) for a morning after breakfast before returning to the city. A limited number of private rooms have been appointed for guests along with temperature regulated glamping digs on the Overlook manor grounds.
Guests and parents, please be advised that this event is intended for adults or those of comparable maturity. Those under the age of eighteen will not be permitted without a guardian and a liability waiver signed prior to entrance.
((Just a board event to celebrate the evening. Feel free to play off of it however you wish. Post here, reference it in live play, play some of it in one of the rooms, ignore it completely, the possibilities are endless. Click the links above to jump to the associated post for that feature for more info!
Feel free to post your character’s outfit or costume to this thread. As you’ll find later in the thread, there will be a costume contest and a ghost hunt! Winners will be chosen by dice roll in the Green Room sometime on 11/3 just to give people plenty of time to post, so be sure to post your participation in each event if you want to be a part of the roll! Winners get an icon and an in character prize, for more information on all of that keep reading!
Thank you to Delahada for letting Karma borrow the Overlook for the night. I appreciate it!))
