All right. The Overlord getting a Squire is a go. The Squire isn't any different than any other in regards to in-game benefits.
Weapons have all ready been mentioned as to various types. So I'm going to ask everyone to re-post their weapons for consideration. Currently there are 3 reach weapons, 3 normal range weapons, and 1 close-quarters/short range among the other squires. The weapons themselves were initially chosen with the direct intent of a character actually learning to use an unfamiliar weapon.
Right now there are
2 Votes for Dagger/Parrying Dagger. Kal, Spell
2 Votes for Morningstar/Flail. Jewell, Sabine
1 Vote for Hidden-Blade Gauntlet. Sylus
1 Vote for Shield. Bailey
1 Vote for Sword and Shield. Collie
If I'm wrong in any of this, let me know!

I was kind of not fully serious when I suggested morningstar.
My character would not have been able to even lift that. I like the daggers best and maybe shield second but it's not really a weapon.

Your show here, Sylus, so do it the way you see fit. What I would suggest though is to grab a master list of weapons people have suggested at this point. Maybe give it a day or so for more alternatives. Then throw the full list as a poll and get the votes that way. If no single items have a majority, take the top 3-5 depending on how close the votes are and then throw a second poll up until we do have a majority winner.
My suggestions would be:
Claymore
Bastard Sword
Main Gauche

I was being silly too
I like dagger, but then Sabine is quite partial to daggers.
(Edit to add, that was supposed to be a x mouthed smiley not an angry one lol)

I think a Shield would be not only awesome, but flexibly depending on each Overlord too as a possibility. I'm not drinking the OL belt kool-aid but could this be an option that helps make the OL Squire unique? Whichever weapon is chosen or shield
an Overlord can give their Squire one only they will have?

Maybe this Overlord was a Ronin from a Faction passed who glorified combat and offers a relic to his squire

Maybe an Overlord is a smith and personally wants to make as impenetrable a following as possible, and makes his Squire a shield.
Anyways, sorry I kind of broke off on a tangent here that is my brain thing doing its thing but; I'm in favor of a shield. I love the idea of it being offense and defensive with a shield slam knocking someone on their ass.

If OL squire is definitely a thing, then I vote for the Shield as well. I like Queen's suggestion of the customization of each OL shield to be given to a Squire. It adds some interesting aspects to it, and allows the squire to be creative if they so desire, as well as the Overlord.
