Full Moon Madness (Shadows of the October Moon)

Post by Partly Cloudy »

Full Moon Madness

Despite the Celestial Druids and Elemental Keepers’ best efforts, the Dark Hunter has arrived on Twilight Isle! And with her presence, the Shadows have gone absolutely wild!

We’ve previously heard stories about shadowy figures picking pockets in Duskside and snuffing out lights in the Gloaming District, and now, we’re hearing that beings made of pure darkness have begun to attack the citizens of Twilight Isle, seeking to draw blood, happiness, and light from their victims!

Our Wardens are overwhelmed and need your help! Come to the Isle tonight and team up to help them fight the Shadows that have overtaken the dueling zone!

How to Participate

Tonight, you will be teaming up with other spellcasters to fight against the Shadows. Doing so is simple.
  1. Set up your duels as normal.
  2. But instead of fighting against your opponent, the two of you will direct your moves toward the Shadows. (RP your moves as though directed at a third party.)
  3. The advantage each round is the more effective spell, though both can hit the Shadows, if you wish to write it that way.

The Shadows are NPC beings, so you can control them, how magic affects them, and how they interact with your characters.

If you are not a duelist and would still like to participate in tonight’s fight, you can still do so via FFRP melee mechanics.

If you’re fighting a solo battle, you will roll 2d5 in the #green-room. Your score is the first number and the NPC Shadow you’re fighting is the second number. Whichever is higher determines the outcome of that particular skirmish.

This can be scaled if you are partnering up with another player to fight against the Shadows, with each of you rolling 1d5 in the #green-room, and then one of you rolling a 1d10 (for the Shadow).

Please tag Gatito in the #green-room if you have any questions.

Edited to add:
If you would like to join the fight but cannot be present for the live event in the #twilight_isle channel, please feel free to roll the appropriate die combination in the #green-room and post your fight scene(s) to this thread!

What the Shadows Want

The Shadows will be fighting to steal your characters’ joy and the spark of lightness in their being. They will try to accomplish this through the Dark Hunter’s magic and the weapons they have gained with her arrival. They can draw blood, of course, and subdue characters physically, too.

You have a lot of leeway here if you wish to RP out the effects these battles have on your characters.

The Fine Print

Please note that you do not have to participate in any prescribed way tonight, or at all. If you wish to simply duel as normal and ignore the Shadows madness, this is absolutely okay.

Your Reward For Participating

All Duel of Magic wins tonight will be doubled on the standings, making this a very good event for characters trying to make rank.

In addition to the duels and wins counting toward the Shadows of the October Moon task list, participating also counts as participating in an event.

Please note that though wins will be doubled on the standings, they count singularly toward the task list.

(( Tonight’s FFRP melee mechanic was borrowed and adapted from the mechanic used in the Rekahpalooza Wildling Rodeo & Mad Mounted Melee. ))
