Challenge for Old Temple

Post by PrlUnicorn »

Salvador,

It's been sometime since I attempted a challenge and since you have been challenged. I'd like to try to wrest that ring and the keys for the cathedral away from you.

- or -
Irish Cottage Pie
with beef, mushrooms, and a hint of Guinness, and topped with a flaky pastry crust

served with

Escalivada

- or -
Colcannon
mashed potatoes with cabbage, kale, Swiss chard, and scallions

and with

Sautéed Broccolini
with butter, garlic, lemon, and fresh parsley
- or -
Salad of Bitter Greens
with fresh orange and roasted hazelnuts, and honey-balsamic dressing

plus

Pan Con Tomate
grilled ciabatta rubbed with garlic and topped with grated tomato and sea salt
- or -
Irish Soda Bread
made with buttermilk and golden raisins, and served with fresh homemade butter

and for dessert

Crema Catalana
citrus and cinnamon-infused custard topped with crunchy caramel and fresh berries

Tonight were the Challenge for Old Temple and it were a scorcher.

The challenger were the ever-young Colleen MacLeod. Her colors were gold and green. Her banner featured a rearing unicorn against a sunrise. Her Second and her Lady of Honor were her granddaughter, former Overlord, Pearl Ilnaren.

Defending the barony tonight, were Salvador Delahada. Sal's banner were a golden crowned tribal sun rising over a symbolic line of water on a field of red. His Second were Gatito Lindo. And he fought for his own Honor. Salvador was looking for his second defense of the barony.

The Baron chose to settle the matter with a single match. He stepped into the ring with his trusty tanto, while Colleen chose a shillelagh to arm herself.

Colleen opened with a direct attack, but Salvador was able to turn it aside with his trusty tanto and he were first on the board. A trade saw Colleen getting her first point in the second round as she brought her shillelagh down low. But Salvador was able to connect as well and thus keep his lead. After a bit of mutual defense, two rounds of traded blows advanced the points but kept the Baron's lead intact. But it being round five, Salvador were at MATCH POINT! The two took a bit of a twirl, but in the final moments they each came with another attack. This last trade of blows sealed the deal, deciding this match in the first and final rounds with a second defense for the Baron.

FINAL: Delahada def. PrlUnicorn, 5 - 4 in 7 rounds.

Well-tried Colleen! And congratulations to Salvador Delahada on his second defense of the Barony of Old Temple!
