I was there to witness this challenge for the barony of Old Temple!

The challenger was Melanie Rostol, holder of Shadoweaver and Warlord of the Arena, and she dueled under no banner or colors. Terry King was her Second and Lady of Honor.

Challenged was THE Baroness Farron, Claire Caelum, who dueled under the navy and gold flag of Lucis. Her Second, in absentia, was Hope, with her husband Noctis Caelum present as her 'Dude' of Honor.

Overlord Gren Brockman, the Brootlord himself, stepped in to defend his Loyal baroness! The fight was as follows:

Intercession 1! For the first round of this struggle, we see the Overlord swinging low, his quarterstaff on the attack! The Challenger, however, is well prepared for the attack! Point to Melanie!" (FCP/LC) 1-0 Mel

Intercession 2! The Challenger presses her attack, striking true, up high after the Overlord tries out the low block this round! Point to Melanie! (HC/FCP) 2-0 Mel

Intercession 3! After the action of the last two rounds, these two take a break! The Overlord is on the move to avoid harm, while the Challenger is braced to counter! Neeext! (SH/FSS) 2-0 Mel

Intercession 4! Still no action, as they each prepare for an incoming attack over the high road - which does not arrive! They look really good doing it, though! (FLP/FLP) 2-0 Mel

Intercession 5! The Overlord sweeps the mighty staff low once more, but the Challenger gets right to the point with a faster thrust, and widens her lead! (TH/LC) 3-0 Mel

Intercession 6! The Challenger moves swiftly, trying to evade an attack - but the Overlord's high swing has enough reach to catch her, and he's on the board! (FSS/HC) 3-1 Mel

Intercession 7! The Challenger stays on the defensive, presenting an impenetrable low parry, but the Overlord's smooth moves get him into superior position, for another point! (FCP/FSS) 3-2 Mel

Intercession 8! Now both Challenger and Overlord shift into the offensive, and both strike low in mirroring attacks! Good for an exciting clash, but points for neither! (LC/LC) 3-2 Mel

Intercession 9! It's good to see that these two are into energy conservation! That's a real social issue, you know. The challenger gets low, while the Overlord braces! (DU/SH) 3-2 Mel

Intercession 10! The Challenger strikes low, quick as always, but the Overlord's staff thrust catches her first, and he ties it up! (HC/TH) 3-3

Intercession 11! The Challenger once more gets low, saving her energy! But she can't prevent the Overlord's low-swinging staff, which strikes true! Point to Gren! (DU/LC) 4-3 Gren

Intercession 12! The Challenger moves in, striking with a powerful, defense-breaking attack - but the Overlord pours on enough speed to avoid it, and seal this match in his Loyal's favor! (SL/FSS)

The Overlord thus defended the reigning Baroness, and her reign continues! Well tried Melanie, and congratulations to the Baroness!

I feel it pertinent to add here that Claire's belly is fantastically huge now, as if Rhy'din were suddenly blessed with a wondrous, third moon!
