Callers for Challenges.

Post by G »

Okay, since I'm hearing complaints.

There's NO official way to get a caller. There hasn't been one since as long as I've been dueling. There may have been a general understanding, but there hasn't been a written rule about it for as long as I've been around.

If you have a challenge, it is up to the Challenger or the Defender to obtain a caller. If you do not, do not automatically assume that a caller on duty will willingly call a challenge. They are there for an assigned shift, not to cover your asses. They are under absolutely NO obligation to agree to call for you.

If they do not mind and will call, then okay. No harm, no foul. If they do not call, then it is the people involved in the challenges fault.

Communication is the Key, folks. If you don't get a caller, you'd better make damn sure your opponent is doing it. It's called Advance Warning. You need to talk to each other so you know what's going on more than an accepted day or time.

Every duelist able to challenge currently has been around long enough to know how challenges work and that there are NO rules in regard to whose responsibility to get a caller is.

Get it done, and don't pull a "I thought it was the other guys job" or anything. I don't want to hear any more complaints on this subject. And IMs, PMs and Emails will not be responded to in regards to what prompted this post. It irritates me that I have been bothered enough to be forced to make a post about it.

Get a Caller Ahead of time. If you don't know if you've got one, DO NOT ASSUME THAT THE OTHER PERSON IS DOING IT! FIND OUT FOR SURE!!

Thank you.

If you can stomach a challenge taking place after 8 or 9 pm eastern, Rand is almost always available starting around 10pm.

Callers for challenge matches should be fairly easy to find, just make the effort to ping somebody and ask. A day notice or more would be helpful, if possible.

Unless it's a magic match, I can usually be available if needed.
