This challenge did indeed take place on September 18th, at the appointed time. The challenger, Warlord Rand al'Tan, dueled under the Banner of the Dragon - the yin and the yang upon a red field. Tristanie Minx was named as his Second, while Morgan le Fay, Mylia, the Minxes, and the rest of the Harem were his Ladies of Honor. The Baron, Soerl Lute, dueled without colors, and without a Second. His Lady of Honor was the lovely Lydia Lute, in absentia.
The Baron chose a best of three format to settle this challenge.
This first match was a taut affair, with neither Warlord nor Baron having more than a single-point lead at any time. After 10 rounds, the match was in Sudden Death after a successful trap by Rand. A trade of cuts brought the match to overtime, and a well-aimed high slice secured Rand the victory at last, 6-5 in 12 rounds.
After a short break, Rand drew first blood in the second match. Soerl quickly tied the score with a fine defensive posture, but the Warlord scored 3 quick points, and though the baron attempted a fine comeback, his efforts fell short on a trade of cuts, and Rand won the second match by a score of 5-4 in 8 rounds - earning Rand the right to the Barony of Dockside!
A fine challenge indeed - well won, Rand, and well-tried Soerl!
