On the night of the thirteenth of December, a large crowd gathered in the Annex to watch Warlord Tasslehofl Momus press his challenge under the Rules of Rank against Baron Xanth for the right to hold the Old Temple barony. The Warlord was seconded by Alais, in absentia, and his Lady of Honor was his wife and the former governor, Kitty Helston. He dueled under a banner so black that it seemed to suck up light. The Baron had the Overlord Anubis Karos as his second and dueled under the orange, blue, and white of the Netherlands.

Citing the desire not to lose two loyal barons in one weekend, the Overlord decided to intercede on behalf of his loyal baron. As the only renegade baron present, the Baroness of the Seaside District Jaycy Ashleana had no competition in stepping in on the Warlord's behalf. There's no denying these two duelists are quite familiar with the styles of one another. The Overlord and the Baroness went back and forth, trading leads and blows. After fourteen long rounds, the Overlord lunged in beneath an attack and was able to continue his intercession.

Yet, the Overlord seemed worn out from the exhausting and brutal first match. The Warlord came in on a fresh set of legs and scored five points in nine rounds while only allowing the Overlord two in order to take the victory and win the right to face the baron in the ring.

It seemed that having fresh legs was very important for this challenge because the Baron broke off into an early lead, scoring four points in the first four rounds. Tass made a bit of a comeback with a lunge followed by successful defenses but in the end that lead was too much to overcome.

The Baron took a final 5-2 victory and retained the right to hold the barony of the Old Temple District.
