November 2022 Archmage Tournament

The November Archmage Tournament will be held on Sunday, November 27th at 8:00pm Eastern! The format will (likely) be double elimination (depending on entrants), and late entrants have no more than 5 minutes to arrive. Seeding will begin at 8:05pm, and casting will begin at 8:10pm.

Seeding will be based on the most recent RoK rankings. Early registration will cut off on Friday, November 25th at 8:55pm ET. Any late registrants or walk-ins will automatically be ranked below early registrants. Registrants tied with the same ranking will be seeded by WoL.

(( This is a reminder that we do have a 5 minute casting limit each round in order to try and keep the tourney from running too late. In the case anyone needs more than 5 minutes for an urgent/special circumstance, please alert the caller, opponent, and the room so that they know you need a few minutes and will return asap. Thanks! ))

Second place will also take home an additional prize in the form of the Keeper's Blessing.

Keeper's Blessing

1. Allows the wielder of this grant the ability to use a special one time use Elemental Fury crystal within a challenge against a Keeper. This crystal will allow its wielder the use of Elemental Fury up to three times within a challenge (should the challenge go to 3 full duels). The power of the Elemental Fury Crystal can only be used once per match. The Keeper's Blessing is available for use until the next Archmage Tournament.

2. Allows the wielder to submit the Blessing to the Duel of Magic staff to be redeemed for a Challenge Grant that can be awarded to any non-Sorcerer duelist of their choice. This grant will allow its wielder to challenge one of the four elemental keeper titles so long as the keeper is not under a grace period. This grant must be used within 14 days.

(( Should 2nd place go to a current Elemental Keeper, they can only select the second option to give the grant away, and cannot select the EF crystal since they're already a keeper. ))

Tonight's menu features making your own Mongolian Grill bowls, so be sure to come hungry!

Small bites include Buuz (meat or veggie filled dumplings), tasty barbequed meatballs, and Khuushuur (meat pockets)!



Numerous grill stations are set up to cook up spectators some delicious veggie and meat bowls where you pick the contents! Get them on top of noodles, rice or cauliflower!



For something sweet there will be raspberry caramel shortbread bars, chocolate eclair tart, and ice cream sunday bites!



Wash it all down with a refreshing Asian pear and ginger mocktail, a lychee martini or a red lotus cocktail (also available in mocktail form)!

All three casters made quite the splash in the rings, and being former Keepers of Water alongside the current Keeper of Water this all makes sense right? But we did the math and at the end of it all Dris (BardGallant) is the Winner of the Archmage Tournament!

And as runner up for the evening, Droet the Bold has been award the Keeper's Blessing!

This evening’s show got started off with the cutest Kawaii caller Eden Parker before I swooped in to watch how the whole thing turned out and Gatito and Dris did not disappoint!

Bringing out Olympus to fight within, the Governor Dris tried to (figuratively) knock out Gatito with some powerful spells starting off, and the two were tied at 1 point for rounds 2 and 3. Gatito managed a slim lead in round 4, but it was Dris who would take a half a point lead in round 5 at 2.5 to 2. Round 7 is when Gatito began to make the steady climb to take both the lead and the first victory of the night with a final score of 5 to 2.5 in 10 rounds. Each spell slinger stunned spectators with their beautiful lights and sounds in the ring, making all eager for the next matches to come. The second match of the evening also started with Gatito taking the lead, but Dris was quick once again to tie things up. Then for 3 straight rounds of unanswered points Dris was sitting at a lead of 3.5 to .5 before Gatito would score again in round 6. The Archmage started to build up on a comeback train, but Dris pumped up the volume on his spells and closed the match in his favor with a final score of 5.5 to 4.5 in 11 rounds, giving each caster a win for the night. So they continued on to a third match to decide it all! Just like the previous matches, Gatito would score first, but Dris was not held off the scoreboard for long and even took the lead 1.5 to 1 in round 5. With both welcoming a little snow and cold air for a round, it was then Gatito who would take the lead only for them both to tie things up in round 9 at 2.5 apiece. Gatito edged ahead in a half point lead before the pair traded spells in round 11, but the Archmage would seal a victory and first defense of the top title in the following round with a final score of 5.5 to 3.5 in 12.

Congratulations Gatito and well tried Dris! We look forward to the next delicious challenge!
