Tywyllwch

Tywyllwch

Darkness. The only trait that permeates through all of Tywyllwch is the blackened terrain tainted and lifeless. Storm clouds swirl endlessly over the sprawling spires and arches that encompass all of the land before the horizon. Day and night have no meaning in this land that is perpetual dark. A green aura emanates from all of the structures fleeting as auroras before dissipating into the clouds overhead. Arcs of green lightning occasionally sprout to give a lingering ruler to the unending rolling shapes overhead. Sharp black buttresses are the stamp of whomever or whatever crafted this nightmare. Regal towers lurch over the ornate and elegant piercing close enough to the clouds that they sometimes attract the ghastly lightning sending it to the cracked ground below where it churns. Beyond the rim of what is known is only the gray waste; where nothing lives and those that wander may only return for any chance of survival.

Black Basilica

Dominating over Tywyllwch the Black Basilica rises past all else. Spires upon spires, arches containing black glass overlooking the plethora of passages and ways long since traveled. What were once well lit chambers have long since burnt out. Green echoes illuminate the massive structure from the outside and presumably the inside as well. The massive monument houses a city within it. Streets and corridors have been torn asunder by the rogue lightning bleeding the same green aura out and merging the one city with the rest. Black stone comprises all of the buildings within, slick to the touch and oozing a secretion with no smell or taste, only a clear consistency that is thick and heavy.

The Labyrinth

As without so within. Within the Basilica there are passages that aim in every direction. Up and down and left and right equally. Carved of the same black material the many stairways lack rails or clear indication of where they go. Some curl and crest as others turn abruptly into darkness. Many without rhyme or reason cease entirely leaving one helpless but to backtrack the way they had come. Green lanterns blaze in various locations along the labyrinth guiding those who travel within to their destination, intended or otherwise. Below the weaving stairwells is only more scattered traces of green until the black. Throughout The Labyrinth an echoing choir of discordant voices bounces through the pathways. They all lead to one location.

The Ballroom

The Ballroom is that which all lead within the Basilica. A beautiful dining hall set with many tables lavishly catered with platinum furnishings and delicacies. Dressed for ball and meetings alike it is sizable enough to fit even the most grand of celebrations. Carved pillars are scattered equally throughout the room. The floor is a glossy solid marble with gossamer highlights of charcoal and green speckled throughout. In the light they dance beneath the surface churning and spiraling with any who join them. Black tables and chairs rest all around The Ballroom some askew yet none toppled or with a hint of dust. Within The Ballroom the discordant tide of voices compounds into an eerie symphony. Some may swear it is familiar yet they are unable to parse what it is from what they recall.

Reliquaries

Blazing overhead within The Ballroom are Reliquaries. Candles suspended in sticks, ornaments, chandeliers and other black fixtures light the main hall. When one draws near the candles their unique voice drowns out the rest. Most burn yellow and white but there are others too within the Reliquaries. Red, Blue, Yellow and Green are peppered in as well. These voices recall tales of old. Some may strike the listener as a legacy herald long ago while others may be speaking of tales yet to come. There are voices that a listener may know to a face or several. There are truths mingled with falsehoods and to recognize this may prove dangerous; to not may prove deadly.

The Black Well

Burrowed past the countless spanning arches and platforms and stairwells alike rest one gateway unlike the rest. Stone of aged white spews green miasma out through its agape entrance. Unpolished stone lines the solitary path that does not allow one to stray as all the rest do. Gone are the misguided steps and haphazard faults from The Labyrinth or the voices of The Ballroom. Only dark and quiet usher the footsteps along to that which lurks. The Black Well is a merger of crystalline caves that dwells beneath Tywyllwch and the Black Basilica. One Obelisk stands unique in its refracted state. Protruding from the rough stone its polished edges and straight design indicate it is not of the same origin. Within its black and green reflection one can see themselves distorted. To touch it is to touch all that visited before. Making contact with the Obelisk grants one the means to steal the identity, appearance and voice of those that have come before them. However it should be noted that repeated use of the Obelisk may ensnare one into it for all time, trapped and unable to escape.
