2022 Rhydin Pride Dragon's Gate Block Party

Don your most disposable whites and come on out to the Dragon’s Gate Dueling Sword, at the barony of Dragon’s Gate, on the morning of Friday, June 17th starting at 10 am by the Rhydin Clock (EST). The entire block will be cordoned off by the circled wagons of dozens of food trucks! The largest section of the crossroads will be left wide open and designated as a dance area with plenty of surrounding seating. The north road will be lined with picnic tables, and the south opened up as a battleground!

The Ministers of Culture and Technology have provided buckets full of multicolored paint filled water balloons, an enormous arsenal of watered down paint filled super soakers, and enchanted water wands. Guests are encouraged to have a literal blast shooting each other up, safely. Don’t forget to grab some goggles to protect your eyes! If you’re not wearing a rainbow by the end of the night, what even are you doing?

There will be an abundance of special live performances by some of the former Barons of Dragon’s Gate throughout the day, including Anya de la Rose, Mairead Harker and the Shanachie Stars, Ellie Luisante, Eden Parker, and more! Expect the added bonus of a guest appearance from Rhydin's Governor Karma Armstrong as well! Not to mention the current baron, Sheridan “Dris” Driscol, will be performing various pieces on a rainbow hued upright piano, specially crafted by his two very talented hands, just for this event! Guests are welcome to make use of the piano themselves as well when he himself is not at the keys.+

Throughout the day, there will be various featured performances by many of Dragon's Gate's talented former Barons.

• 11:00 am Dris and Anya will perform ”River Flows in You” to set a relaxing mood through lunch
• 1:00 pm Ellie Luisante and her partner Mira Burke wow us with a stunning swing performance
• 3:00 pm Dris and Anya will perform ”Lovely” with Maggie Harker accompanying them on the violin
• 4:00 pm Ebon Ilnaren will perform, on electric piano & synth, an instrumental mix of music from various cultures that have representatives residing in Dragon's Gate.
• 5:00 pm Dris and Anya will perform ”Libertango” to get the late afternoon dancing started
• 6:00 pm Dris will continue to play a series of popular covers for a while
• 7:00 pm Dris and Anya together will perform ”All of Me” and then take a break to prepare for the rest of the evening’s festivities.

The floor will be cleared at 8:00 pm sharp for a live DJ who will be on duty for the rest of the evening with a large selection of house beats and electro swing mixes to entice even the most rooted of wallflowers onto the dance floor. Guests may submit requests to be played at any point throughout the evening!* This will be put on pause at 9:00 pm to make way for a spectacular light show put on by former Baroness Eden Parker.

Once the sun goes down, Eden will be delighting the crowd with a light show display! With a swarm of sparkling pink lights at her fingertips, Eden will fill the skies over Dragon's Gate with sights that will amuse and surprise. Pouncing cats and dancing dragons, flying pink arrows piercing exploding hearts, a swooping flock of starlings - all in Eden's signature pink! The show will be set to music and will last no more than ten minutes.**

After Eden’s performance, Dris will take the stage and announce the winners of the ticket raffle prizes! Guests are encouraged to stay all through the evening to party their hearts out. Portals leading to lodgings throughout the city, including the mansion at #11 Twilight Lagoon in the Gloaming District on Twilight Isle, will be open for those too exhausted to carry on to find a safe, soft bed for the night.

Extra special bonus gift for all attendees! One of the head coordinators of the Duel of Fists, Nero Zir, the most fashionable man second only to Dris , has donated a premier limited edition Exclusive Pride Jacket in an assortment of sizes. These jackets are available for every person who attends the block party, absolutely free of charge! So do be sure to pick one up before you depart!

In lieu of and sometimes in addition to performances, some of the former Barons of Dragon’s Gate, and other influential peoples of the city, have donated a selection of wonderful gifts that the Ministers of Culture and Technology are presenting as winnable prizes in a ticket raffle. All attendees will be gifted one free raffle ticket to bid on any single item of their choice. Additional tickets may be purchased for 10 silver (forum) nobles apiece.

Tickets are on sale now, and will continue to be available for purchase until 8:00 pm by the Rhydin Clock (EST) on the evening of Friday, June 17th. These tickets may be used to bid on any of the prizes listed below. There is no limit to the number of tickets one may purchase or place into a drawing for a particular item, so long as you have the funds to spare. All proceeds of raffle ticket sales will be donated to Rhydin LGBTQA+ charities.*

[Ellie Luisante]

Coming fresh off of a multitude of bronze- and silver-medal performances at the World Dance Festival in Kellerman, the spin-tastic Ellie Luisante and her voluminous, soaring skirt will be reprising some of her performances for the enjoyment of block party attendees!

You'll be able to find her at the start of the day in one of her signature long full circle skirts and a front-tied shirt, both in all-white. She'll get a custom tie-dye paint job for it at the event, creating an outfit that is uniquely Rhy'Din Pride for her dance performances, and one to be cherished for years to come. (If you want to give her hugs, you may want to wait about fifteen minutes or so for the paint to dry!)

Later in the day when it's finally time for her to dance, expect the following riveting performances. She'll start with a Romani/Flamenco fusion performance to Flame of Hope that earned her a bronze medal at the World Dance Festival. She'll then be joined by her lovely romantic partner and Baroness of Dockside, Mira Burke, for a duet Swing performance to Lost in the Rhythm. She will end her set with a freestyle performance that combines elements from every dance style she holds dear in her heart, much like the combined colors in our beloved rainbow. It will be set to Midnight Lady, and this performance also earned a bronze medal!

EDIT: Julius Daxidor of the New Prism Swing Stars was originally set to be Ellie's partner for the Swing performance, as he was her partner for the Kellerman WDF, but he has unfortunately fallen under the weather! One of Ellie's romantic partners, Mira Burke, will be stepping in as the new lead for this performance. The program has been amended accordingly.

((I won't make it to the live event, but please feel free to reference Ellie and/or her dance performances as much as you wish. She'll be around for hugs and dancing!))

[Partly Cloudy]

The crew from Kitten’s Confections Bakery & Café were on hand from early evening until late in the night, serving up sandwiches, salads, sweets, and more, with a special emphasis on the macarons and pastries from their Pride collection. They’d even included a miniature version of their Pride tasting box, which they were calling the Rainbow Box, and which contained one macaron of each color/flavor from the larger collection.

Gatito had arrived with his crew to help get them set up and make sure everything was working as it should, but once the dance party began, he was seen mingling in the crowd and dancing with friends and family alike. He routinely worked his way back to Salvador’s side to keep him company and lean on him.

Though Dris and Rhys had suggested everyone wear white, Gatito had come out wearing black in the form a loose tank, slim jeans, and boots. He wasn’t entirely monochromatic, however. His curls shimmered in pastel rainbow shades and his face, throat, and upper chest were painted with a more vibrant rainbow and glitter.

[Gallo]

Gallo had arrived early in the morning to man the Matadero Meats signature BBQ food truck, complete with smoker in the back. He and some of the volunteers from the facility spent the entire day working the grills. The MMBBQ trailer served an primarily pulled pork sandwiches, sausage sandwiches, beef burgers, and both pork and beef ribs with a variety of sauces and toppings. Grilled vegetables and corn on the cob or packets of chips were made available as side options. Badsider brand beer on tap or soda in cans and bottled water were also served. Gallo could be seen sporting his very own ally shirt throughout the day as well.

[Delahada]

There may have been sightings of the newly appointed Baron of New Haven throughout the crowd that evening. Salvador was glimpsed wandering around the Matadero food truck and Kitten's Confections here and there. Rumors might have circulated that he'd even been spotted on the dance floor with his usual companion. But for the most part he was a fleeting shadow who avoided socializing as much as possible. He might have said hello to people he knew here and there, though. He wore his usual jacket, jeans, boots, and t-shirt combo, featuring:

[Abby]

Abby made an appearance. She drifted through the crowds, sampling food and buying raffle tickets. She wore a long white tank that doubled as a dress, and quite possibly that was all. She was of course bare foot the entire time.

[Shin Mendoza]

The Rockin’ Ronin’s mobile izakaya arrived in the afternoon while the paint was still flying. Come evening, they were up to speed and serving sushi, yakisoba, kushiyaki, takoyaki, and more to the crowds.

The izakaya’s owner, Shin Mendoza, spent most of his time in the truck with his crew, trying to make sure everyone got served, but now and again, he could be spotted mingling at the fringes of the crowd, usually with a bottle of Kirin Lite in hand.

[Nicole Brock]

Nicole was helping out with the Fifties Follies crew. The residents of Sarengrave House had done a lot of work to restore an old railcar to build a mobile restaurant. There was still much to do to spruce up the outside.

The menu was simple with burgers, fries, onion rings, soft drinks, coffee, tea, and hand dipped shakes.

[Jameson]

Jameson was there with Abby and Kaliope, being an absolute nuisance. Though he made sure to spend all his free raffle tickets and pig out. He had a hell of a time on the battleground, getting himself and his support clothes completely covered in paint.

[Kaliope]

Kaliope was there, shadowing Abby and needling Jameson every chance she got. By the time evening rolled around, she was almost completely covered in paint. A sad thing that, since she’d really liked the shirt she’d found for the occasion.
