Coinciding with Kabuki Street's Golden Week celebrations, Friday the 7th of May will see the Dockside neighborhood hosting the Koinobori-matsuri, or carp banner festival. Along with other spring decorations, many of the local delinquents and shopkeepers celebrate the season by hanging brightly colored carp banners on a series of halyards rigged over the canal on the northern edge of the district. Many of the banners have a custom design included with the family crest of those that displayed them. Through the next two weeks they will remain on display flying in the reliable onshore winds that the canal enjoys.
Guests are invited to buy or fabricate their own banner to be added to the display by the staff of the Zama Shrine and to stay and enjoy food and games and a performance by the local group of taiko drummers. In addition, Izumi will have a stall with handmade weapons from the Paulownia Forge for sale, with all funds donated to the shrine. Those that display a banner can choose to retrieve it at the end of their two week flight for re-use next year or simply to keep as a keepsake!
( this is a board based event. feel free to post outfits or descriptions of a visit to Kabuki for the festival in this thread or to reference it in play! )

It wouldn't be a Koinobori-matsuri without the Takamine Clan and the Party Planning Committee's push to make sure the event goes just right. Na-rae would both enjoy the festivities with her wife Izumi and their child Lisa, but also keep tabs on the going-on's since she'd only be a quick text away. Fashion of choice would be a more modern take of hanbok while little Lisa decided she wanted to match with her Mommy Izumi and sported a yukata.

Izumi shopped early for festive yukata for herself and for mini Lisa. She made sure that both Na-rae and their daughter had a hand in customizing their carp banner for the event.
Izumi's yukata
Mini Lisa wore more of a kimono, but she liked the color
Both of them wore chains of metal beads hung from their obi that were crafted by Na-rae and chosen carefully by LIsa. The chains held a small metal plaque with the Takamine family crest on them that were crafted at the Paulownia Forge by Izumi.

Some might feel that the Rappapa Sukeban may be possibly overdressed for the occasion but none would say it to her face. With hair done up, light touches of makeup adorning her features along with the more elegant choice of attire, there was no wonder why Asami had spent the morning hours at the Sato household in preparation.
Yuzuki had gone to the club room to use the mirror there to get changed into the new yukata with its maple leaf pattern that she had picked out for the festival. After changing she had spent some time making her sure her hair and makeup were right, and selected the leopard boots she'd gotten for Christmas from Reira to go with the new outfit. After she'd gotten changed she retrieved the bright banner she'd picked out, and went off to search for Asami so they could add the Rappapa symbol to it together.
The two met up sometime after lunch. Yuzuki's eyes grew wide when she saw Asami but before she could say anything the half-oni muttered, ".. I'm hungry". With a laugh Yuzuki nodded her head and reached to take Asami's hand so that they could find something to eat while exclaiming happily, "You look pretty!"
After watching their own Rappapa banner secured with the others, Yuzuki squinted and shielded her eyes to observe all the ones already flying over the canal. When she spotted one with Lucky and Fujiko's symbol on it she smiled and pointed it out to Asami. "Fujiko has been here too" she said, handing over the paper boat filled with yakitori skewers she had bought to share with Asami.

The ex-battlemage had been traveling -- from the winding wooded hills beyond Seaside where her family's vineyard lay, all the way to Cadentia. She arrived with scarcely enough time to find the letter, find Veeda, and depart for the festival! But a couple of days to relax in the city with her love were just what she needed after a long trip.
While she did add a banner to honor her family, she was prouder of something she found at a market stall erected by a vendor from another neighborhood, and especially pleased with herself when she showed it to Veeda:

The Vii had ventured back to Cadentia far before the ex-battlemage and visited the shops while waiting for her love to return. The dress she wore to the festival was one of the few articles of clothing she newly acquired. While not the same fashion as what many wore during the festivities she nevertheless felt pleased to bring a taste of the desert to the city for the weekend.
