DoS Cycle Adjustment Announcement - Important! Please Read!

We will be reworking the timing of the cycles to make it easier for players to know when the new cycle begins.

The current system is each cycle is thirteen weeks.

The new system is for the cycle to start on the first Thursday of January, April, July, and October.

Winter Cycle will start on the first Thursday of January.
Spring Cycle will start on the first Thursday of April.
Summer Cycle will start on the first Thursday of July.
Fall Cycle will start on the first Thursday of October.

The new system will start January 2014. In order to do this the current fall cycle will be extended into December, allowing players an extra month to get a duel in for activity and avoid any conflict between the holidays and tournament scheduling.

The Talon will be held on Saturday, January 4th, 2014.
The WLT will be held on Saturday, January 11th, 2014

But counting to 13 should have been easy for Norah. It's a baker's dozen.

Oh, no. Norah was fine. But I kept getting lost when I ran out of toes to count after 7.

Thanks for doing this. Very annoying to have to do math to figure out when things were starting/ending.

Why not just start the new cycle the first Thursday in December (you're already in week 12 anyway) as it usually would and go December, March, June, Sept as the cycle start months. I only ask because then we keep the cycles staggered between DoF and DoS which will keep the cycle tournaments staggered (WLT, DQ, PC and Talon). Which I think is best for everyone.

Because, like DoF, DoS wants the cycles to be even with the year. However, we can still try to work out a system wherein the tournaments do not conflict. ^_~

Another reason for not doing it that way, as stated, was to avoid conflict between the holidays and tournaments.

Again snowballing is happening from one small desired change?

I don't understand why we have to alter the entire yearly schedule just to make it easier to tell when a cycle starts and ends. Why not just count backwards from 13 and announce it somewhere that people will notice? That way everyone knows when the new one starts.

Or, we can have it a set schedule that takes place in the entire year and announce it once, and then everyone knows.

For what's it's worth, I was playing around not complaining.

Not sure the change is necessary, but also don't think it has a negative impact.

We were postponing it because of the sudden change in staff. I didn't remember there had been an announcement stating when the talon and wlt were being set for, so that's my fault.

Announcements will be coming as soon as we have everything settled in.
