Take two parts hardboiled detective, one part stage magician, shake with lots of ice and pour into the body of a teenager, then let it sit for decades in smoked filled bars and seedy back rooms filled with magic, mystery, and murder, and you'll have yourself one Rick Spade. A dangerous thing, a soul too old in a body too young, a weary man lost in a world that makes less and less sense every year. The past is hurtling further and further away, and the future can be terrifying..

He fits under the half way mark between five feet and six, and he's thin like only the young can be. He'd be handsome if he wasn't so pretty. As was his habit, he always dressed sharp and fashionable, with a tendency to mix the old in with the new -- the pants and jacket might be en vogue, but the vest would be an ancient number. Brown tussles were unruly. Green eyes were old. Long sleeves tended to hide the scrolling geometric tattoos that ran from wrists up, protection symbols and other foci. There smelled of old leather and tobacco and cologne, and he moved like Frank Sinatra sang.
