Challenge for Keeper of Earth

On the evening of May the twenty-seventh, I witnessed the Vince Smith challenge Harris D'Artainian (also known as the "Virg") for Keeper of the Earth. The duelists met in a ring in the Annex to fight for the title.

In the first duel, Vince Smith took an early lead but the duel remained close. A magebolt that hit in the seventh round gave Vince the two-point lead and put him a half-point from the win. Harris stayed away from Vince's next several attacks, bringing himself within a point of a tie. However, in the tenth round, Vince sent in a set of wizard blades that sliced through Harris' defense for the final point. Vince Smith took the first duel with a final score of 5.5-3.5 over Harris D'Artainain.

The second duel found the pair getting off to an aggressive start as both connected for points. Harris' ray gun gave him several points in this match but it was a bolt of lightening in the sixth round that put him a half point from the win. A displacement away from Vince's attack in the next round gave him that half point and the 5-2 win over Vince Smith.

Without stopping for even a quick break, the pair began the third and final duel. Harris immediately leapt out of the gate on the offensive. Three quick attacks gave him a 3-0 lead. Vince slowed his advance towards his defense of his title by gaining a series of advantages over Harris. Harris stopped the advantage fest by sending coconuts raining down on Vince's head in the seventh round. It wasn't until four rounds later that Harris sealed the deal, taking a 5-3.5 win over Vince and, thus, defeating the challenger.

Harris D'Artainain defends his title as Keeper of the Earth.
