2024 Gubernatorial Election Victory Speech

Post by Kruger »

Enlightenment Park was lit up so brightly that it obscured the colored lights which typically lit the nearly four hundred foot spire. A large stage had been built beneath the spire, in front of the stage were rows of cameras being operated by journalists and newscasters. The park itself was filled with people who had come out to attend the election event. Kruger moved onto the stage with his son Nikolai, his brother and sister-in-law, Eddie and Tahlia, as a voice announced the first family of the city. There was a lot of waving from all until the latter three were led off stage. As Kruger stepped up to the podium, someone began a chant of Anvil which he acknowledged with a wave of his hand and a bowed head. He swept his gaze across the crowd, pausing in places as if focusing on faces he knew. He waited for the crowd to quiet before beginning to speak.

“Hello Rhy’Din.” Another euphoric cheer burst out of the crowd. “Tonight, the immensity of love this city has shown to me is deeply humbling. So many of you stood in lines for hours to execute your right to vote for me. The depth of your commitment is an awareness that will never fade. Our city is made up of many people, Fae, non-humans and humans, other worlders and underdwellers, mortals and immortals. Still we are not just a collection of individuals. We are not separated by race or species. We are Rhy’Din, and we are not afraid to stand up and show the world, there is no place like this. There is no place whose citizens are more accepting, and encouraging. Nowhere you will find such a diversity of backgrounds and still discover unflinching support of one another. As I look out on a sea of faces, I see your eyes watching me, and I feel all of your aspirations. My heart knows your expectations. It grows stronger as we become One Hope and One Heart.

“I would like to thank Ms. Burke and Sir Roomba for all of their efforts. They fought hard for their platforms. I look forward to working with them, and gaining their input into the issues which will face this city. I would also like to thank my predecessor, Governor Lindo, who’s hand on the tiller never wavered. We are all better because of your leadership. I am grateful for my family and their constant encouragement and support. Those of you close to me know that my extended family may not share any blood, but we share a bond just as tightly knitted. Mostly, I would like to thank all of you, for believing in me strongly enough to give me this opportunity. I know, no matter the obstacles ahead, that together, we will not fail."

“Thank you, and good night.”
