Winterfest 2023: Build-A-Snowman & Snowmaggeddon

Post by Partly Cloudy »

BUILD-A-SNOWMAN CONTEST
IN FOUR POINTS SQUARE!

When: 12:00 pm, December 13, 2023
Where: Four Points Square in Old Temple

Embrace the light-hearted fun of the season and join us for a snowman-building contest! We’ll be setting up in Old Temple’s Four Points Square on Wednesday, December 13th, near the newly-opened, seasonal skating rink. This is a family-friendly event and is open to participants of all ages.

Afraid there might not be enough the white stuff around? Late in the morning, a team of mages will weave their wintry spell, ensuring the square is blanketed with a fresh layer of pristine snow.

We encourage everyone to bring articles of clothing, buttons, carrots, lumps of coal, sand shovels and buckets, and anything else you can imagine that you might want to use to create or include in your designs. Get crazy with it! (But please keep it PG-13!) The most creative entry wins the grand prize: Frosty’s Blessing!

Frosty’s Blessing is a soft, enchanted scarf that enables its wearer to transform themself into a snowman for a limited amount of time! After an hour, the wearer will automatically change back. It is recommended that Frosty’s Blessing be allowed at least a full twenty-four hours to recharge its magic.

The contest starts promptly at noon, so don’t be late!

CONTEST ENTRIES
1. Snowman with cat on their shoulder (Ishikawa)
2. Snowman with leashed dog (Yuzuki)

***

And the winner of Frosty’s Blessing is …
Misaki Ishikawa!

Second-place finisher, Yuzuki Ito,
receives a special commemorative prize!

(( This is a forum event open to all. Please feel free to post images of your contest entry, descriptions of your characters’ experiences at the contest, and anything else you might like to include. The winner of the snowman contest will be determined by dice roll or RNG on New Year’s Eve, thus giving everyone a few weeks to post should they desire to participate. ))

SNOWMAGGEDDON!

When: 8:00 pm, with the snowball fight starting at 9:00 pm
Where: Four Points Square in Old Temple

Are you ready to get chilly?

Join us on the evening of Wednesday, December 13th for the season’s most epic snowball showdown, Snowmaggeddon!

With help from our team of mages, Four Points Square has received yet another blanketing of fresh snow, and our event helpers have helped get you started with stacks of snowballs, just ready to be thrown! And be on the watch for magical mischief—rumor has it, some of the afternoon’s snowmen might join the fray!

When you’re not slinging snow, or dodging it, take a rest on one of the benches or in the Adirondack chairs situated around the braziers dotting the square and chat or listen to the music. There will be blankets provided to help you get warm, as well as plenty of hot drinks. And what’s a party without food and drink? In addition to a gourmet hot chocolate bar, there will be a small selection of cocktails, plus a deluxe s’mores bar and plenty of hot snacks to keep you going well into the night.

So, what are you waiting for? Come down to Old Temple and join us for Snowmaggeddon!

(( This is a LIVE event taking place in the #streets-of-rhydin channel on Discord, but this thread is open for posting by anyone who wishes to participate, whether or not they can make the live event. So please feel free to include story snippets, outfits, and anything else you might want to include to mark your characters’ participation. ))

Ishikawa made a show of her adventure at the Build-A-Snowman competition. Selfie stick in hand and smart phone ready to stream as she broadcasts her attempt at making a snowman. At first she thought the snowman would be enough but after receiving a 200 silver noble donation it was requested by the kind benefactor that the snowman needed a cat on his shoulder.

Once finished Ishikawa would go around the contest grounds talking and showing off the many different snow creations — and if anyone was interested she'd even interview the builders.

It wasn't long before word of a Bulld-A-Snowman competition got to Yuzuki, and she was quick to bring it to Asami's attention in the upstairs office above the dojo. After some deliberation it was decided that building a snowman was an Ito family activity instead of an all-of-Rappapa one and so the pair departed Kabuki bound for Old Temple, bundled up in their winter coats and scarves and gloves and heavy woolen hats. Yuzuki did most of the building, deciding that the snowman needed his own dog to walk since it was Four Points Square, an ideal place for a stroll. Asami mostly watched, but Yuzuki relied upon her wife to add the final touch to the snowman, his hat. The sukeban always had to put on the 'highest' of any decorations after all.
