Challenge for Old Temple (Grant)

Post by Delahada »

Myria -

I won this cooking contest that kid in Battlefield Park set up
and the grand prize was a barony challenge grant.
I haven't had Old Temple yet, and I know you're tough.
Let's see if I can take the church from you.

As promised, Salvador prepared a couple of simple dishes for Myria and Conner, with plenty of extra leftover for everyone else to partake in as well. Spectators may help themselves to one of two choice meals for the evening. Sides are presented surrounding the main course platters, but may be mixed and matched however desired.

Option 1: Catalan Style Braised Beef with Spinach.
With warm salsa, beans and chat potatoes.

Option 2: Catalan-Style Portobello Steaks
With patatas bravas purple potatoes.

In addition to these main courses, Salvador's companion el Gatito Lindo has prepared fresh baked bread and a dessert option. Pats of butter and servings of a variety of fruit jams will be available should they be desired. Beverages for the evening will be paid for on the challenger's tab, as well.

Oi, this challenge went down last night in the Arena and it were a real screamer.

The challenger were Salvador Delahada, who were looking for his first time holding the Old Temple barony. He fought under the banner of a golden crowned tribal sun rising over a symbolic line of water on a field of red. His Second were Gatito Lindo, and he fought for his own honor.

Defending the title were Myria Graziano, who were looking to lock in her third defense of the title. Myria fought under her blue/grey banner, and she had no second and no persons of honor.

Baron Myria chose a best-of-three challenge! With trusty rapier in hand she went into the ring to face Salvador and his wicked tanto.

In the first match, Salvador jumped out to a strong early lead scoring three points in three rounds before Myria could find her way into the fight. Taking a defensive posture, Myria managed to get on the board in the fourth round, but she couldn't stop Salvador from answering. With Salvador at matchpoint, Myria looked like she was out of options, and Salvador was able to close her out with a trade of blows.

FINAL: Delahada def. Myria Graziano, 5 - 2 in 6 rounds.

Not even taking a breath nor a drink of water, the two fighters dove right into the second match. This time were Myria who jumped out to the first lead of the fight. Salvador kept up the attack, coming in high with his tanto, but Myria was there down low, and the trade kept Myria in the lead. Trying to anticipate the baron, Salvador found his way around to Myria's unguarded side and managed to tie things up. But that were the last point he'd score in this fight, as Myria followed a direct attack with a pair of well-timed maneuvers, and she managed to take the second fight in a perfect reverse of the first fight!

FINAL: Myria Graziano def. Delahada, 5 - 2 in 6 rounds.

With the whole barony on the line, the next fight started in a much more guarded fashion. Were two unscored rounds until Myria were first on the board when she found a way through Salvador's defense. But Salvador answered immediately by turning an attack back around on Myria. A lunging attack gave Salvador the first lead of the fight. He quickly doubled it with another one of those fleet-footed pivots to her flank. For three more rounds, Myria managed to hold Salvador in check. But then it were point after point after point. Try as she might, Myria could not find an answer, and with another lunging strike of his tanto, Salvador sealed the deal!

FINAL: Delahada def. Myria Graziano, 5.5 - 2 in 14 rounds.

Congratulations to Salvador Delahada on his victory, and his first time holding the Barony of Old Temple!

Well-reigned, Myria!

The new Baron of Old Temple has declared RENEGADE.
