May 2022 Archmage Tournament

The May Archmage Tournament will be held on Sunday, May 22nd at 8:00pm Eastern! The format will (likely) be double elimination (depending on entrants), and late entrants have no more than 5 minutes to arrive. Seeding will begin at 8:05pm, and casting will begin at 8:10pm.

Seeding will be based on the most recent RoK rankings. Early registration will cut off on Friday, May 20th at 8:55pm ET. Any late registrants or walk-ins will automatically be ranked below early registrants. Registrants tied with the same ranking will be seeded by WoL.

(( This is a reminder that we do have a 5 minute casting limit each round in order to try and keep the tourney from running too late. In the case anyone needs more than 5 minutes for an urgent/special circumstance, please alert the caller, opponent, and the room so that they know you need a few minutes and will return asap. Second place will also take home an additional prize in the form of the Keeper's Blessing.

Keeper's Blessing

1. Allows the wielder of this grant the ability to use a special one time use Elemental Fury crystal within a challenge against a Keeper. This crystal will allow its wielder the use of Elemental Fury up to three times within a challenge (should the challenge go to 3 full duels). The power of the Elemental Fury Crystal can only be used once per match. The Keeper's Blessing is available for use until the next Archmage Tournament.

2. Allows the wielder to submit the Blessing to the Duel of Magic staff to be redeemed for a Challenge Grant that can be awarded to any non-Sorcerer duelist of their choice. This grant will allow its wielder to challenge one of the four elemental keeper titles so long as the keeper is not under a grace period. This grant must be used within 14 days.

(( Should 2nd place go to a current Elemental Keeper, they can only select the second option to give the grant away, and cannot select the EF crystal since they're already a keeper. ))

We’re ready to grill and chill for the Archmage Tournament with burgers and fries!

Spicy chicken patties, Classic beef, and vegetarian patties are available with all your favorite fixings.

Green been fries, piled high fry snack boards with all your potato favorites, and carrot fries are there to choose from. Pick one or have them all! Tasty dipping sauces are also there to enjoy.

Honey ginger lemonade with ginger beer (also available as a mocktail), blackberry champagne mules, and a smores campfire cocktail are on the special drink menu for the evening.

To keep your sweet tooth in check there will be cherry limeade cupcakes, Max’s Special Sugar Cookies, and loads of fresh fruit for dessert.

Droet the Bold wins the Archmage Tournament! This underdog tale began with a suffered loss in the first round of the tournament, yet Droet held strong and climbed the mountain. With a bracket reset and a final victory well earned against frontrunner Dris, he stands at the very top as the nights winner! The Celestial Citadel still looms high in the sky... will he be able to reach it?

For this challenge, Nicole's Bistro and Pizzeria in Old Temple will be providing a buffet to make personal sized pizzas. We're bringing one of our wood fire ovens which will be kept hot courtesy of the Keeper of Fire, Rachael Blackthorne.

Hand tossed, thin, panzano, cauliflower, and stuffed crusts will be prepared on site.

Denizens of the duels! It was my honor and privilege to be chosen to officiate this most prestigious challenge for the key to the Citadel of the Stars! This was a challenge that took all three possible matches to conclude the outcome of who would stand at the end as Twilight Isle’s Celestial Keeper! The defending Archmage, Ebon Ilnaren, chose to resolve this conflict in the special ring known as Olympus for all three matches!

The first match started as a back and forth in which Droet started with a teensy lead that Ebon took from him by the fourth round. After that, however, Droet smashed into the lead and never gave it back. He allowed Ebon to score a little here and there, but held onto that lead all the way to the end where the tiefling secured a victory with a score of 5 to 2.5 in 10 rounds.

The second match looked like it was going to go the same way as the first. Droet took the easy early half lead, but immediately in the second round Ebon punched his way ahead. This was a complete reversal of the first match. Ebon never gave up that lead as the rounds progressed. He did allow Droet to make his way up to a full point, but that was it. A few null rounds here and there prolonged matters, but in the end the Archmage secured a victory with a score of 5.5 to 1 in 10 rounds.

The third and final match of the evening was a nailbiter to the extreme! It started off looking like Ebon had things in the bag. He took the immediate lead right out of the gate, and though Droet tied him in round two, by the third the Archmage took back the lead and held onto it firmly for several following rounds. By the time he had accumulated three and a half points, Droet came back with a vengeance in rounds six through ten, wherein he brought the match to an even sudden death of four apiece. Ebon chiseled his way into a lead again by half a point in the eleventh round, and then finally secured a victory of 5 to 4 in the 12th.

Thus the Archmage racked up his second reigning defense and Ebon Ilnaren remains the Celestial Keeper of the Citadel of Stars! Well tried on that challenge, AMT Champion Droet the Bold! Congratulations, Ebon! Look for me next cycle!
