Challenge for Tower of Fire

The elegant, gilded parchment with glittering ink was posted prominently by a friendly neighborhood dapper lich, slowly drifting down the Isle's shores to take in the sights and magic.

Professor Rachael Blackthorne,

Salutations. I do not believe we have had the opportunity of meeting prior to this posting. My name is Ordark the Grandiloquent, and I am the advocate for Mistress Emiria Burke. I have been tasked with informing you and the Department of Magic that Mistress Burke would like to issue a challenge for your Tower of Fire. My mistress is very keen on challenging for one of the department's esteemed towers, and in lieu of her tower of particular interest, the Tower of Air, exchanging hands, she has decided that her next most intriguing tower, your Tower of Fire, would prove both a challenging and entertaining spectacle for everyone involved. Once again, I feel compelled to inform you that there are no 'politics' or 'hard feelings' associated with said challenge. In fact, Mistress Burke holds Professor Blackthorne in high esteem. She also... and I quote... "loves to snuggle and smooch her little kitties and touch their toebeans." I regret that at this stage of my unlife I would most likely not be able to appreciate such luxuries, but my mistress was adamant that I include that in the official documentation. As with the Department of Swords, I, as my mistresses legal ward, am fully within the rules of your governing laws to issue this challenge in her stead to protect from potential misunderstandings. Any and all official documentation can be processed through me. Thank you for your attention and patience as I once again gilded the lily with my lyrical eloquence.

A thick white sheet of parchment was tacked to the corkboard with a black and gold pushpin. The message that it contained was written in an exceptionally precise left-handed script in black ink. A seal in black and gold wax with the impression in the wax of a panther head was at the bottom of the parchment.

To Ordark the Grandiloquent, on behalf of Emiria Burke, Warden of Lakeside,

I do not and will not presume to question the reasons for the challenge for the custodianship of the Fire Tower that was made by Mistress Emiria Burke and submitted by you, Ordark the Grandiloquent.

I look forward to the testing of our skills in sorcellerie in Tartarus, Mira.

Rosie and Belle especially appreciate the glittery nature of the challenge parchment, while Mayflower definitely appreciates the attention that has been paid to her toebeans by, in her words, pretty Mira.

I hereby officially accept this challenge for the custodianship of the Tower of Fire that has been made by Emiria Burke and submitted by Ordark the Grandiloquent.

After direct consultation with Mira, the challenge for the custodianship of the Tower of Fire will take place on Thursday, January 20th at 9PM by the Eastern clock tower. The honourable Coordinator of the Duel of Magic, Max Lager, will preside over the challenge.

We kicked things off in Tartarus this evening and both were eager and excited to get things rolling right on time! In the first match Mira dominated the scoreboard and while Rachael got on the board finally in the fourth round, Mira didn’t let the Professor to close the gap of her lead too much and took the first win of the evening. The second match looked to be somewhat of a reversal of the first in that it was Rachael’s turn to control the match and kept Mira from scoring no more than a single point the entire match. Pushed to the third and final match, Rachael started things off once more in her favor, but this time Mira started to get some ground and close the gap of Rachael’s big lead. However, in the end, the Professor once more showed why she is the Keeper of Fire and sealed in her 6th defense of the fiery Tower.
