A thick white sheet of parchment was tacked to the corkboard with a black and gold pushpin. The message that it contained was written in an exceptionally precise left-handed script in black ink. A seal in black and gold wax with the impression in the wax of a panther head was at the bottom of the parchment.

Jackson,

You have previously faced moi outside of Tartarus. There is a well-known saying about assumptions and those who make them. Do not presume to make them about moi in any way, shape, or form.

I hereby officially accept this challenge for the custodianship of the Tower of Fire.

After consultation with Jackson, the challenge for the custodianship of the Tower of Fire will take place on Wednesday, September 22nd, at 9PM by the Eastern clock tower. The honourable Caller known as Dris will preside over the challenge.

We were feeling hot, hot, hot on the Isle tonight! Young up and coming, swiftly rising challenger Jackson met the Keeper of Fire, Rachael Blackthorne, tonight to duel-it-out and decide which of them was the more worthy of holding the Key to the Tower! This blazing match up was a disco inferno that took place entirely in the legendary ring Tartarus! Both of our combatants brought their own styles of fire to the challenge! In a traditional best of three, only one of them walked away the victor in a one after the other set of matches, with no need to continue into a third.

The first match started immediately in Rachael's favor, but Jackson was quick to tie things up in the second round. He then took the lead in the third and held onto it, extending it little by little into the fifth. By round six, Rachael got her head back in the game and closed the gap between them by round eight. They both blasted each other in the ninth, keeping the score too close for comfort, but by the tenth and final round Rachael blasted her way to a win with a final score of 6.5 to 4.5.

In the second match, it was Jackson who snagged the first point and a half! Rachael immediately grabbed one for her own in the second, and then tied things up in the third. Jackson took back the lead immediately after and extended it by quite a bit. By the sixth round he had landed at match point, but was unable to maintain that lead to walk off with a win. Rachael worked her way back quickly to over a tie, and they gave each other quite a beating round after round after round. The lead kept bouncing back and forth between them, with only a half point margin all the way into round 12 where they were completely tied up at six and a half! In the thirteenth round, however, Rachael secured her second win and walked away the victor at a final score of 7.5 to 6.5!

What a pair of epic matches! They kept it close and had us sweating! Well tried, Jackson! Congratulations on your defense, Rachael!
