Pride 2021: Glowstick Parade

Already painted with all colors of the rainbow and more, the streets of Rhydin saw a second coming of crews… This time lining a route to the city center with powerful blacklight crystals that, when night fell, would come to life and luminesce the neons and fluorescents donned by individuals participating in the Glowstick Parade! Along the route will be food trucks and vendors selling body paints, glow sticks, and cold beverages to help ward off the stickiness of a summer night! Professional LED Poi Dancers will have spaces for performance, wowing those on their way to the end of the route with colorful displays of lights and skill.





These Poi sticks will also be available for sale, so even beginners can create their own lit masterpieces, or simply make pretty flashing designs however they like!



The city center has been decorated with lights, lasers, and more to lend a glow to the Pride festivities, and the thump of music will encourage anyone gathered to dance while pop-up bars offer a place for people to mingle and enjoy the show and company of like minds, or to meet new friends!

Helea finished her business on the Isle early to enjoy the parade in gold.

This was another part of Pride that Mallory would have to miss this year, but not all of her summons did! After days of adventures and making new friends in the rainbow caves, Starglass made their way into town with a menagerie of pixies, spirits, will-o-the-wisps, crystalline bats, and elemental sprites in all the colors of the rainbow following along. The celestial-elemental construct themself had rippled into something more closely resembling the bisexual pride flag in a galaxy-like pattern across their glasslike but flexible, unbreakable surface. They trumpeted happily at everyone they saw, danced around like a maniac with all their new friends from the Wilds' crystal caves, and "helpfully" scattered rainbow glitter as far and as often as they could.

[Tori Ravenwood]

Tori went more for the drinks and dancing, though the entire experience was amazing. The lights, colours, and entertainment kept her attention most of the night.

Her outfit, one similar to one she wore to a Pride party as a teen, left lots of room for body paint and the lettering on the top would glow under any blacklights that might hit it.

[Mistakes In Time]

To the surprise of many, it wasn’t the younger Haru that showed up. Instead, the older hovered near his sister in a bright rainbow t-shirt and shorts. He was on alert with determined red eyes and every muscle ready to jump into action at the first sign of someone getting handsy with any of the more scantily clad folks. To those who asked, especially about his opinion regarding his youngest sister’s outfit, his response was simple, “their bodies belong to them, this is about being proud of who you are. I’m here making sure that isn’t taken from as many people as I can.” He smiled warmly at those who asked, though, and added, “I want my son to grow up knowing he’s safe to be himself, and my siblings to know they are who they are; change for no one.”

Mik had chosen initially to cling to their brother. They tried to hide tears as they rolled down their face (he had come to every pride with them), and their outfit matched Haru’s (like every other year since Mik came out). The sight of Tori had the older twin squeaking happily as they ran in to tackle her in a hug. The pair chose to hang out near Tori the entire day, the younger two listening to their brother be protective of them and watched as the world lit up in a brilliant rainbow.
