The Prince and the Swan
Shanachie Ballet Company
September 6th – September 25th

Please join us for Josette Wheeler’s directorial debut as the Shanachie Ballet performs The Prince and the Swan, based on Matthew Bourne’s version of Swan Lake - a contemporary ballet using the music by Tchaikovsky and a broad outline of the plot. Bourne's rendering is best known for having the traditionally female parts of the swans danced by men.

Saint Joan is a play by George Bernard Shaw about 15th-century French military figure Joan of Arc. Premiering in 1923, three years after her canonization by the Roman Catholic Church, the play reflects Shaw's belief that the people involved in Joan's trial acted according to what they thought was right.

Jekyll & Hyde
Shanachie Theater Company
October 11th - October 23rd

Based on Robert Louis Stevenson’s classic thriller, Jekyll & Hyde is the gripping tale of a brilliant mind gone horrifically awry, set to a powerful pop-rock score by Frank Wildhorn with book and lyrics by Leslie Bricusse. In an attempt to cure his ailing father’s mental illness by separating “good” from “evil” in the human personality, talented physician Dr. Jekyll inadvertently creates an alternate personality of pure evil, dubbed Mr. Hyde, who wreaks murderous havoc on the city of London. As his fiancée Emma grows increasingly fearful for her betrothed, a prostitute, Lucy, finds herself dangerously involved with both the doctor and his alter ego. Struggling to control Hyde before he takes over for good, Jekyll must race to find a cure for the demon he has created in his own mind.

Hansel & Gretel

November 8th - November 27th

This two-act ballet is a lively re-telling of the well-known fairytale about a brother and sister who wander into a forest where they are captured by a witch in a fantastic gingerbread house. In a classic good-triumphs-over-evil plot, the spunky youngsters defeat the witch, free other children she had baked into gingerbread, and are reunited with their loving parents in the happily-ever-after finale.

Peter Pan Goes Wrong
Shanachie Theater Company
November 29th - December 11th

Peter Pan Goes Wrong is a play by Henry Lewis, Jonathan Sayer, and Henry Shields of the Mischief Theatre Company, creators of The Play That Goes Wrong (2012). The premise, as in The Play That Goes Wrong, is that the actors and crews are members of the fictitious Cornley Polytechnic Drama Society presenting their production of the J.M. Barrie classic 1904 play Peter Pan, and ruin it through amateurism and personal rivalries.
