EgoTrip returns to give the party goers a place to boogie down on New Years Eve! E G O I N F E R N O !

As with all of EgoTrips yearly New Years Eve gatherings, the large establishment will be wall to wall decorated in the theme of the event. This years rallying cry into the new year will be hosted in disco balls galore (a long with the famous monstrosity that is The Visitor located in the main gut of the establishment), signifying the transition out of 2019 and into 2020 with a roaring party reminiscent of the Studio 54 days from the 70's!

Image

Bring in the new year by taking a shuffle step back into the past! Come head to toe in your hottest glam straight from the bowels of disco fever days and enjoy all your (secret) favorite tunes of the liquid gold era remixed by the one and only DJ Mori Midori! Other halls will be draped in the same decor and style with different DJ's such as local favorite Osotopia, the foreign and fabulous Little Miss Mercy, and the king of all chill-step lounging, DJ Eyeko!

Enjoy the massive set up of light up floors, the thousands of balloons that litter the ceiling and walls that when popped shower a mini-party of glitter and a potent *fae-dust that might make you feel like getting out on that dance floor as soon as possible! Take awe at the myriad of lights that can easily transport you into the sequinned decade from yesteryear! Costumes are encouraged but not mandatory to join the fray! *This semi-narcotic like powder, straight from the source of Arcadia, is more euphoric than anything else. No bad trips or health risks are possible for those daring to try some!

During this outrageous event, a disco dancing contest will be held for any that sign up as they come in! The winners will be chosen for the flashiest moves, the gaudiest get ups, and be crowned Disco King and Disco Queen!

A special roller rink has been built specifically within the confines of EgoTrip, off to the south side of the building that can be found through the main hall. Any and all are welcome to try busting a Travolta move out on the rink where skates can either be brought from home or rented right there in the rink! *EgoTrip is not responsible for any injury caused from falling or showing off. Skate at your own risk.

( OOC: Feel free to join in on the yearly fun in this thread! Post outfits, snippets of dancing, try some of the fae-dust or drinks! The dance contest winners (King & Queen) will be chosen via a random number generator for all that make it clear in their post that they joined! Winners will receive a special icon to be distributed to their profiles. Everyone who participates will also receive a special icon to celebrate that they were part of the fun!

This is a board event only! I will leave this open to join until January 15th given that I was so very, very, very late in organizing it and putting it together! Thank you for everyone who always messages me to ask if I will be throwing one of these events, you guys are definitely so sweet to say you love them!

If you are interested in checking out some of the music that will be played, you can go to this link for a Spotify playlist!

As always, if your character is under 21, they can grease up Paulie the doorman's hand to get inside unless they obviously look like a child! Have fun with it!

And Happy New Year, Rhy'Din!)

They hadn't opened the doors yet to start letting the massive crowd in. It was the calm before the neon storm where you could feel the very pulse of the night in the air, through the skin of the walls, a heat that made you want to connect with the music and dance till your body had enough. There was expectations of these events that Peaches refused to sully. Each year had to be better than the last. It had to be memorable. It had to satisfy the wild cravings in everyone's stomachs. From the music to the drinks. From the atmosphere of the decor to the entertainment. This year had meant actual construction when building on the new roller rink that would ultimately be unveiled tonight, hopefully guiding people over to the club who wanted to dip their toes back into the magic of nostalgia when skating.

Mori Midori, the petite force to reckon with, was the only one to be witness to the siren circling the rink in a pair of gaudy roller skates that reflected much like the very disco ball that hovered above. Peaches rotated her feet to seamlessly glide across the surface, twisting to go from high to low, from forwards to backwards. All in tune with the beat of a requested song that wouldn't be played for the rest of the evening. This moment was just for her, and her alone.
Image
Peaches would start off the night in this get up where plenty was on display. A true disco queen herself in the Lycra one piece that was all sequins and glitz. It rode up relatively high, topped off with a bow tie around her neck and a hairdo reminiscent of the fever dream glory days when Studio 54 was popping.
Image

Image
When the doors finally whirled open is when the party kicked off, starting stronger than ever with the momentum of bodies that came flooding in. She enjoyed gasping in awe with some familiar faces that circulated in with all the unfamiliar ones, trading bits of gossip or red lipped kisses with every single one of them. She could be found performing on the roller rink or in the main hall, and in between those two places she could be spotted at one of the many bars where she always had a drink in hand.

Later in the night when the skates were just too much for her to handle, she went up to the office high above and changed into a suitable mash of style and shine. In this ensemble she could easily get lost in the crowd again, dancing with the known and unknown until the very dawn.

And who knew what happened to her around midnight.

The faerie Empress arrived at EgoTrip fashionably late, ready for a good time. It had taken some shopping and a few texts to Lucy to land on an outfit before she landed on the low-cut bodysuit and ridiculous jacket (which she kept on despite the warmth of the club). She showed up in roller skates (and spent some time on the rink) but eventually switched to sky-high platform heels.

The fae-dust in the air mingled with her own magic for an intoxicating combination that drew those nearby into her web for a hug, a dance, a kiss, or a round of Ring My Bell shots.

At some point, she tried to do some coordinated skate dancing with Hope and Peaches, and she definitely entered the dance contest, shaking her bum like a pro.

This is one of those awkward moments where you didn't get the memo about the theme and just get told "DRESS UP! IT'LL BE FUN!". Jesse didn't really seem to be bothered by it and could be seen skating around much of the night — without the suit jacket, of course, and where it wound up at the end of the night is anyones guess. Jesse could be heard speaking to the hostess later in the night stating: "You know, you really should have worn a bra with that top. Just a suggestion. When I controlled the body of a stripper once it was really, really awkward — and she was in a top almost like that, anyway" and this continued on until Peaches countered with "I DO WHAT I WANT!" before skating off.

While Terry wasn't there for the main party, she did show up earlier before all the night-fun started. Clubs weren't much of her scene anymore, but she still wanted to celebrate New Years Eve with the city siren, and so did Mary (Terry's little sister). Terry sipped on a little something non-alcoholic as she watched both Peaches and her sister skate around the roller rink. Hell, she even joined them after a while! She just hopes the moment where she faceplants gets deleted from security footage.. she's used to roller-blades, okay?!

Josette arrived at EgoTrip ready to ring in the New Year with her usual joie de vivre and it seemed the ballerina had come to the right place to dance! A dance contest? Of course she signed up!

Her chosen ensemble for the evening held a bit more daring than her usual style, as the theme of the night called for a bit of drama. The glory days of 54 were not for the demure after all!

Glittering sequins stars that caught the light of the club were fashioned into meticulously placed constellations that seemed to be designed for her petite frame in particular—and perhaps they had been! Having a designer Mother in Paris did have a few advantages.

The nude lining of the dress gave the illusion of the risqué without being too revealing. A little bit of Studio 54, blended with just a dash of flirtatious french flair that was an homage to The Moulin Rouge in Paris. Tiny swarovski crystals were hand sewn just above the angled feathered fringe of her skirt showcased the ballerina’s lithe legs. A slender pink ribbon that held the pretty thing all together was tied at the back of the dancer’s slender neck and another at delicate arch of her spine. The only jewelry she wore were the dangling star earrings that swung along with the rhythm of her movements as she sashayed, shimmied and twirled the night away.

Perhaps it was the added euphoria of the glittering fae-dust which tickled the dancer’s shoulders like a brush of the green fairy’s wings as a balloon popped nearby, or she was simply happy to be out and enjoying the night, but the ballerina was curiously less shy than usual.

Her body took to the music like she was born to it, no matter how the talented DJ changed up the song. The vibration of it thrummed in her very cells and the heavy bass kept her heart pumping with the beautiful underscore of a reminder that she was alive for yet another year.

In fact, Josette hardly left the dance floor unless it was to sample a few of the pretty pink drinks that caught her attention. Le Freak (c’est chic!) and Boogie Wonderland in particular looked delicious! She made sure not overindulge, of course, as she wanted to rollerskate later without faceplanting!

She was all too happy to pull fellow familiar revelers and friends onto the dance floor for a spin if they were willing...and she just might dance with a few unfamiliar faces as well if the moment felt right! If she managed to catch the beautiful Peaches as she circulated, she complimeted her on her gorgeous club and the success of such a wonderful night!

If the flashing lights got to be a bit too much overload for the occasionally sensory sensitive ballerina after a few hours, she simply stepped outside for a bit or she donned a pair of pink shades that helped immensely and that she felt fit the theme so she was not too self conscious.

Now that the theater was closed for maintenance till February, Josie could let go just a little bit more, so she was lacing up those roller-skates and giggling away like a regular roller girl as she took several carefree turns around the rink with a few daring spins. It had been too long since she’d skated!

However, a few minutes before the clock struck twelve, the dancer discreetly slipped away from the writhing collection of bodies like a stealth Cinderella. She left the kisses at Midnight to the couples in love and lovers to be, while Josie took that time for herself to ditch her heels and spend the remaining moments of the year beneath a favored willow tree. Perhaps to make just one more wish come Midnight with her eyes on the stars—they always called her home in the end.

Mallory changed quickly after the Cadentia Baronial challenge, showing up to EgoTrip in a gaudy mess of glitter, sequins, and bi pride colors that didn't seem so out of place at the disco-themed New Year's Eve party.

The roller skates clipped onto the bottom of her glittering boots, and she moved between the dance floor and the rink to try her hand at becoming Disco Queen (or King, she wasn't picky), heckle Jewell over her alleged lack of skating skills, and help herself to a few drinks. She also popped a few balloons over the course of the night, breathing in the dust and skirting along the familiar line of euphoria without descending into a haze.

The fae-dust kept her dancing long after her New Year's kiss with Eri, as long as her tired feet held out.

Dax didn’t need much of an excuse to tie one on and New Year’s Eve presented just such an opportunity. He’d been grinding at his tattoo shop, Third Eye Tattoos, for awhile now, long enough that business was starting to pick up and he didn’t have to be there full time. The 31st was usually a great night for tattoos…combine copious amounts of alcohol with poor decision making and boom…his shop would go like gang busters. Never know though…
Dax might leave with a few new ideas for some tattoos in the new year…it was Rhydin after all.

But talking about work wasn’t groovy and there was still plenty of time for bad decisions as he showed up for the themed EgoTrip party that would close out the decade. Dax arrived ready to party to the max in a true homage to Mick Jagger himself. Understated with a black suit worn open, white shirt half unbuttoned and the collar folded over that of the jacket, Dax was cool city with a collection of chains worn about his neck and over his tattooed chest. No need to go full polyester and bad color matchings when the Rolling Stone look was just as iconic as Studio 54 itself. That…and there was no way in hell the former Marine would ever be caught in bell bottoms and king collars.

Dax typically didn’t gravitate towards large crowds and loud noises, but the fae dust synergized with the alcohol and managed to hold his personal demons at bay for a few hours of fun. The kind of fun he’d enjoyed before the numerous deployments, before the funerals and the guilt. He noticed Josette, of course, and Mallory as well alongside other familiar faces and with another Ring My Bell shot he was signing up for the dance contest because he just looked too damn fab in his chosen threads not to. He’d boogy down and get his groove on with the foxes out on the dance floor, enjoying the good vibes before saying later days to the disco.

Rug cuttin was swapped for roller skatin, ya dig? A few laps and everything was copacetic when he spotted a particular Star Child turned roller girl out doing a few daring spins. Josette owed him a drink, but a true gentleman would never call that particular marker in. Instead he’d attempt a swap…clean slate for a few runs around the rink, if she'd agree, before the clock struck midnight and she upped and vanished.

He wouldn’t stay much past the count down himself. New beginnings only occurred because other things were ending. For Dax it was impossible to shake the permanency of it all, of the fact that he was still around when some of his friends weren't.

The fantasy had to come to end at some time…unless you were Keith Richards that is.

Lucy continued her tradition of spending New Year's Eve at EgoTrip's special event, and this time she had August with her! Lucy was all about the theme, picking up some fancy roller skates, and she even talked August into wearing a little bit of color too!

They spent a lot of time moving between the roller rink and the dance floor, seeking out their friends in the crowd. It took Lucy a little bit to get her balance on her skates, but once she did, she had a blast taking twirls around the floor with August and all the rest of their friends, balancing a champagne cocktail in hand. Lucy made sure to seek out Peaches for a kiss and a congratulations. There were so many of her friends at the party and Lucy tried to dance or exchange well-wishes with all of them.

At the stroke of midnight, Lucy and August shared a brief, but tender kiss that left Lucy blushing. They kept dancing into the night before finally deciding to call it a night and find a lift home.

They brought their own drugs; a pair of neatly rolled joints laced with illicit Faerie goods wrapped by delicate, skilled fingers in rose paper--her favorite. The first was passed back and forth between them with a faux clumsiness, incidental skin-to-skin contact drawn out teasingly, feather-light, both of them greedy for any excuse to prolong the waning sober moments where they were huddled intimately close, every nerve and neuron alive and pulsing with the thrill of what was yet to come.

If you asked him, she was the most striking girl in the room. The dazzling light show had absolutely nothing on her showstopping sequined silhouette, her dark hair falling around a silken bateau neckline that dipped into a backless V above a cascading floor-length maxi skirt. He was in smart gray cashmere and pleated trousers in complement to her perfection, and though he’d say he paled in comparison, there was no denying she could hardly take her eyes off him.

First they found their friends and then they found some drinks. Before giving in to the lure of the dance floor, they stumbled upon the newly installed rink, and when he discovered she’d never learned to skate, he aimed to remedy that. He spent a little longer than was absolutely necessary on his knees before her while helping her into the rented skates, enjoying the electric feel of her bare skin in his hands, warm and soft. Inviting. But he was never untoward.

To call it a disaster would be a lie; it was perfect, though she never did learn how to remain upright on her own. Perhaps it was the drugs. Perhaps it was the desire to hold on to one another. But she wouldn’t let him go. And he didn’t want her to. They ended up in a giggling heap more than once, everything made all the more hilarious by the fae-induced delirium coursing through their veins.

The second joint made an appearance after they joined their friends on the dance floor, and this time she made him sin. Who knew a man could be made jealous of a joint, to so covet the kiss of her lips against the rose paper that he could think of nothing else? She beckoned him close enough to share a siphoned breath of shimmering smoke, their lips all but touching. The heavy cloak of misery fell away for a time and they danced, her body against his, fitting perfectly in his hands.

At the stroke of midnight, amidst the cacophony of riotous celebration, Cane and Aoife looked at one another and rang in the new year lost in the other’s gaze.

Hope had spent much of the previous week, when she wasn't punching and being punched, practicing her skating for the upcoming EGO trip. At first it was a bunch of tumbling over until she finally found her footing and picked it up. "This isn't too bad!" That was what she had said the first hour and a half of falling over until she eventually nailed the trickiest part of all: skating backwards.

She showed up with Jewell and made it her self-prescribed goal to try out and finish every single drink that there was to offer. Needless to say by the ending she had far less balance on the skates than when the night had began.

How long had it been since she’d danced? Truth be told, the thought of it made her a little anxious. But this was her first New Year’s Eve celebration with a family, her first with Gallo, and it begged to be celebrated in style. Nila had way too much fun spending Sal’s money on party attire for the pair of them. Surely he wouldn’t mind footing the bill for keeping Cane company.
Nila didn’t know a thing about disco going into the evening, but by the end of the night she and Gallo were more than able to hold their own. When midnight rolled around, they stilled long enough to welcome the New Year with a lingering kiss, then resumed their tireless journey around the dance floor on into the wee hours of the morning.

Former Governor Sheridan "Dris" Driscol attended, solo. He spent the evening fighting off adoring fans. Though he didn't dress to fit the theme, he certainly dressed to impress, and it was a struggle to keep his stalkers from making off with his clothes. It was too warm to skate with his coat on and he lost it as soon as he set it down. Someone made off with a souvenir, and though disappointed in the loss he didn't let it get him down. Dris made the rounds with handshakes, high fives, hugs, and even kisses. He was more than willing to offer himself up as a midnight kiss to anyone who didn't have a partner to share one with. He stayed and danced until he dropped some time long into the wee hours of the morning of January 1, 2020.

Benjamin was ...disturbingly good at roller disco. He may mumble something about a revival of 'Xanadu' a few years back if asked, but otherwise, he could cut a very fine line around the floor. He made a point of trying all of the drinks, as well. He came zooming around to steal any wayward folks- mostly people he knew!- for a swift run around the track before releasing them back to the wilds.

Come midnight, the Thunderbird was open to any takers for a kiss or two. He'd keep up the party till dawn, before shambling off of a limo and heading home.

New Year’s Eve was known among observadores de aves as a fortuitous night for spotting El Águila Negra. It was rumored that he would make an appearance at the party given the current lull at the ballet. A glance through tinted window revealed the curbside throng as he and he his ostentatious coterie arrived fashionably late to EgoTrip’s E G O I N F E R N O. For one born in the flames of Las Falles, Dante Lorenzo Domíngues-Álvarez could not allow himself to miss such an event. A press of lips kissed a tattoo of the crucified Christ on the underside of his wrist before he made the sign of the cross and stepped from the stretch limo. That the image was done to look like Dante only spoke to his ego and the suffering artistic pain he endured in order to bring joy and majesty to the masses. The new tattoo had garnered many photographs due to its irreverence ...if only he could have been bothered to reminder the artist's name. Designer sunglasses made exclusively by Dolce & Gabbana blocked out the most obnoxious flashes as the birders (Dante referred to the paparazzi as ‘birders’ since they flocked to watch the Black Eagle wherever he went) jostled one another for the best shot of his arrival. He obliged, of course, though for only a few moments. The thought that others might be distracted by such an affair never crossing his mind, of course…his main concern was no one crowding his space and ruining his flamboyant attire.

El Águila Negra arrived in his iconic feather festooned coat though, as this was a celebration, the dancer’s bare chest and chiseled abdominals were left exposed above lowslung leather pants which gripped the hard contours of the ballerino’s physique to perfection. Of course, he had not come dressed in the garish style of a regretful fashion decade. Polyester and bohemian chic were things best left in the past. Were this any other night out to one of Rhydin’s provincial inns then the feathers and leather might be the end of his wardrobe selections. But this was New Year’s Eve and E G O I N F E R N O. Consequently Dante’s sculpted chest was spattered with just the right amount of shimmering body glitter; a scintillating comet’s tail of gold and red shimmered across his chest like a living flame as he moved through the flashbulbs of the paparazzi and into the pulsating interior of the party.

“¿Un concurso de baile?” He asked, clarifying that there was a dance contest before signing up without hesitation. “The ‘contest’ is just a formality, yes? Something you do to give the illusion of chance? You have Dante Lorenzo Domíngues-Álvarez in house tonight…” Speaking as if his name and its appropriate awe should automatically drop the mouths of those he spoke with and guarantee him victory. He was an award winning and internationally known ballet master. Just ask him. “I will dance. Do not fret. But ensure my name is spelled correctly on whatever trophy is given… Domíngues-Álvarez.” Dante repeating and sounding out the syllables slowly before snapping his fingers. “I go.”

Dante was no stranger to glitter or…mood enhancement substances (so the London tabloids had said)…and so the popping of balloons and the corresponding release of Fae Dust only enhanced his mood as he danced, without discrimination as both women and men were allowed to bask within his halo on the dance floor. The dance, its spirit and the corresponding release of energy, was the only thing which could threaten to eclipse the man’s massive ego after all. Josette was noticed…even given a rare nod of approval when their orbits neared one another on the dance floor. He would not intrude upon her…the starlet ballerina would only threaten his own luminous luster.

All manner of drinks were selected and sampled throughout the night, Dante deciding that Le Freak (for obvious reasons) would be his drink of choice when the decision to move to the skating rink came with yet another snapping finger announcement. Yet Dante would not skate in circles with the mob. He would be lost within the collection of regular humanity. No. He would don his skates and occupy a section of the rail on the rink itself, a proud peacocking perch where all who skated round would inevitably see him standing there, surrounded by his entourage while sipping his brightly colored drink as if he were the big bad in some 1970s roller skating version of Grease.

Lucy and her man would receive a lifting of his drink in greeting as they skated by. No doubt they had enjoyed his gift of prime seats to the ballet almost as much as they had his performance. He was certain of it if only in his own mind. He would linger on his perch until his drink ran dry and the clock approached midnight. When the celebratory time arrived, Dante would be inside and counting down the seconds while keeping the Spanish tradition of consuming twelve grapes…one a second…for good luck for each of the next twelve months. Blame his mother. She was superstitious and had taught him all sorts of spells and gestures to ward off el mal de ojo. As a matter of fact the sign was made when he spotted Mallory just in case.

Grapes consumed…alcohol consumed…the Black Eagle would spend the remainder of the night on the dance floor where he would dance and party until the earliest hours of the virgin decade threatened dawn.
