To Matt,

It saddens me that you felt the need to send someone after a loyal baron, and that you thought so little of my skills that you would send someone who was not even a Warlord. But it has been noted, and a response will be forthcoming.

I'm not an attack dog. When Matt gave the grant to me, he did not tell me who to challenge. The decision to challenge you is entirely mine.

If you have an issue with it, take it up with me. If you think so little of my skill, then ask Matt to test me. I will not begrudge him that if either he or you think that I have done wrong in issuing challenge to you.

Rather than make baseless accusations to innocent parties, it might have been better for you to talk to me if you wondered why I challenged you. Then again, if you had spared me any respect in our past interactions, I would not have issued this challenge.

I have no quarrel with you. Our past interaction being me beating you 5 - .5, that past interaction? Regardless, I have a view of Loyalty, and an attack dog would not tell me they were an attack dog. I don't know you, and have no reason to trust your word.

That, also, makes no difference in this challenge. Nothing you say will make any difference. It's a sport and I have accepted the challenge. I will be in touch, for times and dates, and that is all.

For the record, while I was disappointed that Aric elected to challenge a baron aligned as Loyal to my standing as Overlord, I did not issue him any specific directives or instructions on who or who not to challenge when I gave him the Overlord's Grant.

The Grant was Aric's to use as he saw fit and he did exactly that. While I may not agree with his independent choice, the choice has been made and I will respect it.

To be clear - Red, I did not send Aric after you and he is not my attack dog. He is a free-willed person (as far as I'm aware, at any rate) who chose, for whatever his own personal reasons, to challenge for the Old Temple Barony.

I hope this challenge proceeds without any additional ill feelings or temperament.
