Post by RDL Yuknon »

Here ye here ye!

Duel of Gun's first ever challenge night is coming up, Tuesday, May 12th, at 9:30pm EST! First up will be a challenge to the Baronesses of BOOM, Blammity Jane and Talon! If you wanna take on the Baronesses and vie for the team title, sign up in pairs below by the end of the night on Monday, May 11th. The team with the most overall regulation duels fought this season will be cleared to challenge!

And once that challenge is done, the highest ranked Sharpshooter present will get their shot at Judge Fredd and the Desperado title! It looks like Ace is the only eligible fighter able to challenge, so it's up to him to re-match the champ and go for the biggest title in Post-Apocalyptic Rhy'Din! Ace's the only fighter to ever beat Judge Fredd, so you just know that there is gonna be sparks flying down in the Battleground on Tuesday night.

Come join us to watch some explosive duels, and see our best gun-fighters deal with the backstabbing politics of Challenge Niiiiight(tm)!

((If you are a Sharpshooter or title holder and absolutely cannot make the event on Tuesday night, please send me an email ASAP at dfrye.creative at gmail dotcom so that I can do what I can to help with scheduling.))

((Challenge Night Rules:

Before all Desperado challenge events have taken place on Challenge Night, a team of two gun-fighters will be allowed to challenge the current Barons of Boom in the same format as the Barons of Boom Tournament. There are no rank restrictions for this challenge, and any number of teams may announce their intention to challenge. The announced team with the most overall duels fought in the current season will be the only team allowed to press challenge, which will take place immediately, in single duel format. The current Desperado may elect to add himself to either roster of either the challenging team, or the current Barons of Boom, or to not be involved at all. Should the Desperado fight in the challenge, the team that he aids must be responsible not just for calling for BACKUP as usual, but must also name which teammate they wish to make active when submitting back-up requests to the calling official.

During Challenge Night each season, Sharpshooters will be allowed to challenge the current Desperado for their title. The Desperado will appear, ready to defend their title, and the Sharpshooter present at the start of Challenge Night with the most regulation wins in the current season will have first rights to press challenge; if multiple Sharpshooters have the most (and same) regulations wins, and wish to challenge, they must first face each other in a single duel format to determine who will receive the right to challenge. Should the eventual challenger fail to win the title of Desperado for any reason, they will have five wins subtracted from their Standings record.

On the night of the challenge, a current Baron of Boom may elect to intercede as either a Champion for the Desperado, or a Champion for the challenger. Should a Baron of Boom intercede on behalf of the Desperado and defeat the challenger, the challenge is considered over. Should a Baron of Boom intercede on behalf of the challenger and defeat the Desperado, the challenge will continue, and the challenger need only win one-out-of-three duels against the Desperado to succeed in their challenge. Should both Barons of Boom intercede, one on behalf of both challenger and Desperado, the challenge will continue and the duelist successfully championed need only win one-out-of-three duels to win the challenge. In any case, a successful Champion may elect to immediately face the winner of the challenge in a single duel for the title of Desperado.

Should a challenger defeat the current Desperado, they will become the new Desperado at the next standings update, and the previous Desperado will be given a rank concurrent with their current wins-over-losses. Should a challenger defeat the current Desperado, and then be defeated by a Baron of Boom, they will not receive the Desperado title. A challenge is considered complete upon the next standings update (typically, very shortly after Challenge Night is finished).

Should Challenge Night be on a date that any of the current title-holders are unable to appear on, they must submit public notice on the Challenge Night forum thread at least twenty-four hours before the event begins, and Challenge Night will be rescheduled between the title-holders and the RDL Administration for no longer than one week after the originally scheduled event.))

It was a night to remember! There we had it, the first challenge night ever. What was gonna happen? Would someone step up to take out Blammity Jane and Talon, our Baronesses of BOOM?

Nah. No one dared to challenge the Baronesses, 'cause they are waaaaaay too scary!

So it was time for the main event, yeah? Our lone Sharpshooter, the all-time winningest Duel of Guns badass, Ace stepped forward to press challenge! And who was his opponent, but the one, the only, the unstoppable JUDGE FREDD! Going into the match, Judge Fredd had only lost one duel, ever, and that was to Ace in last year's Desperado Tournament. He went on to beat Ace twice last year, though, to prove that he's the man with a plan when it comes to shooting stuff in. the. FACE!

Well, it looked like our rematch was about to start. Both Baronesses of BOOM refused to intercede on behalf of either our champion or our challenger, and so the Judge and Ace drew on each other and started their best two-out-of-three challenge match!

It was Judge Fredd that came out looking dominant in the first match, but it wasn't to last. Ace, proving once again that maybe the Judge isn't invincible in the ring, came back from behind to take a strong 5-3 win!
RDL Yuknon: Ring Desperado, Round One! Looks like th' Judge's still go't! (Combo Energy Shield + Strafing Shot / High Voltage Quickdraw, 2-0 Judge Fredd)

RDL Yuknon: Ring Desperado, Round Two! A lil' less excitin' than last round, but th' Judge's still on top! (Combo Find Cover + Shotgun Blast / Aimed Shot, 2.5-0 Judge Fredd)

RDL Yuknon: Ring Desperado, Round Three! An' jest like tha', Ace comes back t'within'a point! (Combo Find Cover + Quickdraw / Cryo Aimed Shot, 2.5 - 1.5 Judge Fredd)

RDL Yuknon: Ring Desperado, Round Four! Ooooooh, look't Ace go! ::in the crowd -- women scream, men glare, goblins steal stuff.:: (Combo Energy Shield + Aimed Shot / High Voltage Shotgun Blast, 3.5-2.5 Ace)

RDL Yuknon: Ring Desperado, Round Five! Time ou'! Where'd my gun go? ::looks around, helplessly:: (Combo Find Cover + Shotgun Blast / Combo Energy Shield + Strafing Shot, 3.5-2.5 Ace)

RDL Yuknon: Ring Desperado, Round Six! Judge Fredd's shakin' off a shockin' few rounds to inch back towards tha' lead! (Combo Side Roll + Shotgun Blast / Incendiary Quickdraw, 3.5-3 Ace)

RDL Yuknon: Ring Desperado, round Seven! Awwww. More pain! (Chaff Strafing Shot / Strafing Shot, 3.5-3 Ace)

RDL Yuknon: Ring Desperado, Round Eight! Ace's takin't t'th' streets! I 'eard tha' on th' radio once, I think. Inn'a song. (Charge / Incendiary Grenade Toss, 4-3 Ace)

RDL Yuknon: Ring Desperado, Round Nine! S'over! Ace brings it home with'a bang! (Shotgun Blast / Ricochet, Final: Ace .def. Judge Fredd, 5-3!)

But, the Judge wasn't done yet. Maybe he just needed to shake some of his rust off! He strode forward in the second duel, guns blazing, and WRECKED Ace, 6-1.5!
RDL Yuknon: Ring Desperado, Round One! Th' Judge's makin' use'a tha' fancy new ammo've's! (Chaff Shotgun Blast / Combo Find Cover + Shotgun Blast, 1-0 Judge Fredd)

RDL Yuknon: Ring Desperado, Round Two! Ace ain't rollin' over yet. He's got a chip on's shoulder tha' size'a Lord Imperius' magnificent brain! (Combo Side Roll + Quickdraw / High Voltage Strafing Shot, 1 all)

RDL Yuknon: Ring Desperado, Round Three! ooooooh, 'zat's cold, man! COLD! (Cryo Shotgun Blast / Ricochet, 2-1 Judge Fredd. Ricochet is frozen for Ace!)

RDL Yuknon: Ring Desperado, Round Four! Hellz yuh! They're doin' weird stuff down there! (Combo Energy Shield + Strafing Shot / Combo Energy Shield + Grenade Toss, 3.5 - 1.5 Judge Fredd)

RDL Yuknon: Ring Desperado, Round Five! Th' Judge's gettin' close t'puttin' this challenge int'a one final, epic match fer th' title! (Combo Side Roll + Quickdraw / Incendiary Strafing Shot, 4-1.5 Judge Fredd)

RDL Yuknon: Ring Desperado Round Six! Th' Judge's bringin't into a third match. We go' a hell'va show! (Combo Energy Shield+Strafing Shot / High Voltage Quickdraw, Final: Judge Fredd .def. Ace, 6-1.5!)
So it came down to a third match, just like last year. Ace started off lookin' clever, and even managed to freeze the Judge with a well-timed Cryo shot! But the Judge proved that being frozen ain't so bad as it sounds, and mounted a perfectly executed series of defensive and offensive combos to put a stop to Ace's Desperado dreams!

RDL Yuknon: Ring DESPERADO, Round One! Ace ain't fallin' fer't this time! (Energy Shield / Chaff Strafing Shot, 0.5-0 Ace)

RDL Yuknon: Ring DESPERADO, Round Two! Ooooh, I can't watch! Th' Judge zaps'em good, but it might be Ace with the upper-hand after tha' exchange! (High Voltage Quickdraw / Cryo Quickdraw, 2-1.5 Judge Fredd. Quickdraw is frozen for Judge Fredd!)

RDL Yuknon: Ring DESPERADO, Round Three! Th' Judge's openin' up's lead! Can Ace come back? (Combo Find Cover + Aimed Shot / Incendiary Shotgun Blast, 3.5-1.5 Judge Fredd)

RDL Yuknon: Ring DESPERADO, Round Four! Wha' happen'? ::scratches his head and squints:: (Combo Charge + Grenade Toss / Combo Ricochet + Strafing Shot, 4-1.5 Judge Fredd)

RDL Yuknon: Ring DESPERADO, Round Five! An's jest like last season! Ace proved tha' th' Judge ain't untouchable, but th' Judge's still numba' one! (Combo Energy Shield + Strafing Shot / High Voltage Shotgun Blast, Final: Judge Fredd .def. Ace, 5-1.5 in five rounds!)

Congratulations to the challenger, Ace, for now being the only gunfighter to beat Judge Fredd, twice! But even MORE congratulations to Judge Fredd, for proving why he's the baddest mofo around, and our Desperado still!
