February 2015 Archmage Tournament
The February 2015 Archmage Tournament will be held on Saturday, February 28th at 8:30pm Eastern! The format will most likely be double elimination (depending on entrants), and late entrants have no more than 5 minutes to arrive. Seeding will begin at 8:35pm, and casting will begin at 8:40pm.
Seeding will be based on the most recent RoK rankings. Early registration will cut off on Friday, February 27th at 8:30pm. Any late registrants or walk-ins will automatically be ranked below early registrants. Registrants tied with the same ranking will be seeded by WoL.
Lem, 0007's sleepiest caller, will be our host so please register early so that he knows how many entrants to prepare for.
Please post your registrations as replies to this thread. Good luck everyone!
((It's worked well, so we will adhere to a 5 minute casting limit each round in order to try and keep the tourney from running too late. Exceeding 5 minutes once will result in a friendly reminder from the caller. Anything after that will result in a mis-cast, meaning no spell was invoked and the opponent's spell scores for maximum damage. After a mis-cast, the duelist is still not allowed to use whatever spell they most recently used. That way the mis-cast does not serve as a type of disengage. In the case anyone needs more than 5 minutes for an urgent/special circumstance, please alert the caller, opponent, and the room so they they know you need a few minute and will return asap.
Also in the case that the tourney does run long, if the majority of remaining participants and the caller prefer to finish the tourney on another night, that is fine so long as the tourney is finished within a few days in order to allow the Archmage and challenger enough time to complete the challenge before the new cycle starts on Sunday 03/08. Any questions, you know where to find me. Thanks!))

My tournament curse continues; I'll be unable to attend this one. Best of luck to all!

So, this challenge happened between Claire Farron, the puissant winner of the Archmage tourney, and Old Man Lem himself! I was there and saw it all - even my lazy cat was there!
Here's how it happened:
~Shadow
Here's how it happened:
Thus, in 2 duels Lem defended his title of Archmage and kept hold of the Celestial Key! Well tried Claire, well defended Lem!Olympus One 2! Claire brings the full power of her mind to bear, perhaps seeking to make Lem return to his nap! But she can't find him in that old man fog! (FMW/FF) .5 all
Olympus One 3! Lem tries to armor up, but he can't protect himself when Claire drops the skies! (FMS/AR) 1.5-.5 Claire
Olympus One 4! No matter how many blades Claire tosses, nor how sharp, they're not breaching his powerful, fiery defense! (FWB/IM) 1.5 all
Olympus One 5! Claire decides to take a jaunt to the spirit realm, as she does, while Lem calls forth a lovely mirror! Next! (GF/RF) 1.5 all
Olympus One 6! Claire puts up her own mirror, seeking to reflect the Archmage's attack - but it's too sharp, and cuts right through! (RF/WB) 2.5-1.5 Lem
Olympus One 7! Caution from these two mighty mages, as each shields up! No points! (SH/SH) 2.5-1.5 Lem
Olympus One 8! Claire gets back to the mind magic, or 'mom-glaring' as it would be now, and gets to Lem past his fancy, fiery shield! Tied again! (FMW/IM) 2.5 all
Olympus One 9! Lem brings out the creepy, big bad ray again, and catches Claire before she can startle him! (FT/NR) 3.5-2.5 Lem
Olympus One 10! Claire brings out her own ray of fell sorcery, and manages to get to Lem, even though he's veeeeeeery ghostly right now, and scores a full point! (NR/FGF) 4.5-3 Lem
Olympus One 11! Lem's trying to get out of there and end this one in his favor, but Claire has other ideas and manages to obscure his escape! (FF/DS) 4.5-4 Lem
Olympus One 12! Claire stays defensive, erecting a quick shield to protect her from harm! But Lem decides to show her his biggest, best mirror, and takes the first duel of the challenge! (SH/FRF)
((FINAL: Lem DeAngelo .def. Claire Farron, 5.5-4 in 12.))
Olympus Two 1! Claire really brings down the skies on our elderly Archmage, who gets an early peek at the spirit world and avoids it all! (FMS/GF) .5-0 Lem
Olympus Two 2! Claire keeps pouring it on, bringing the sharp pointy, probably glittery things, but Lem is zapping them out of the air before arrival! (FWB/MB) 1-0 Lem
Olympus Two 3! Claire gets her mom glare on and stares Lem down right through that fancy mana shielding of his! Tied up! (FMW/IM) 1 all
Olympus Two 4! Claire goes for some zappage, but Lem's ready with a simple defense, to eke himself out a slight lead! (MB/SH) 1.5-1 Lem
Olympus Two 5! And we seesaw back to a tie, as Claire and Lem trade their magical knowledge and reverse last round! (SH/MB) 1.5 all
Olympus Two 6! Now we're seeing some fireworks, as Claire drops the skies, and Lem dips into his darker repertoire! Points for each! (MS/NR) 2.5 all
Olympus Two 7! Well, this is a potentially..fragrant round. Lem brings more fragrance and manages to pull into a slight lead! (FF/FFF) 3.5-3 Lem
Olympus Two 8! Claire brings her mental magic into play, preparing once more to send Lem to a much-needed nap! Lem shows off surprising speed, however, and his powerful bolt gets to her first, and seals the duel and match in his favor! (MW/FMB)
((FINAL: Lem DeAngelo .def. Claire Farron, 5-3 in 8.))
