Barons Charity Event

Post by King »

I'm sure most of you in the Arena know me. If not, my name is Terry King and I'm the newest Overlord of the Duel of Swords. I'm not here to discuss Baron Alignments or any sort of other Duel of Swords Politics. I come to the council of Barons and to all duelists to discuss something else, and that's how to give back to the community.

Christmas will be here soon enough and I think it would do us well to be a good example for the people of Rhy'Din by giving to those who are less fortunate. That is why I propose that each Baron, along with myself, take time out of our busy lives to create gifts for the children of the Dragon's Gate Orphanage. The gift will be hand sewn Teddy Bears. I will provide the material.

If any title holder from the other sports are interested in helping, please reply as well. Your help will be appreciated.

For Visitors and Duelists: I will be setting up a donation box beside the stairs leading into the Arena for toys.

Let's all bring a merry Christmas to these children.

Thank you for reading,
Terry King

To kickstart this drive, I'll be donating my Mighty Max collection I've been building since making the move to Penrith. It was a fun hobby, but as time goes on my room is looking less and less like it belongs to a responsible ad-ult, so they need to go.

I'll miss them, make no mistake. Accruing these pocket dungeons over the years has been a great pastime. Some even cost the pretty coin online. But at the end of the day it's all about dem kidz!

I'm happy to donate.

I would love to sew teddy bears! In.

Wrapped up in a rhinestone wrapping was a little bear with a note attached waiting in the box. "I stabbed myself a lot making it. I hope they love it."

Overlord King,

You can count on my support in this worthwhile endeavor.

Every year during Winterfest, the students at Harker's Academy participate in a toy and clothing drive for children's charities in Rhydin. Collection boxes will be placed in the Cardinal Inn for anyone wishing to donate toys or children's clothing to make the holiday season brighter.

I had a bunch of these made for my loyal blog readers, but not many of them sold. I'm told that the price tag of $5,000,000 each was a little high, but I don't really understand your primitive number system. But since I have a ton of them and they're just taking up space, I'm going to donate half my stock to charity.

BEHOLD, MORTALS!

They may or may not have become enchanted by prolonged close contact with me and various other magical entities that kick it around the shop. More than a few of them have gained awareness and are able to move and/or appear to be real in the imaginations of children and others who wish to believe. I cannot be held responsible for anything they do.

To Baron Shadow, Claire, and Rhiannon. Thank you so much for helping in this. Shadow and Claire, I'll come by the orphanage soon so we can sit down and figure out the numbers. Rhiannon, I'll be sure to keep you in the loop. Once I have the numbers figured I'll purchase the bear material. If you three have any themes in mind for your Baronies bears, tell me and I'll hook you up with extra material.

I'd like to also thank everyone who have already donated to the toy donation bin now and in the future.

Everyone have a wicked Halloween and don't get too sugar shocked,

I've sweet-talked Koy into crafting garments for the bears. The children may accessorize accordingly.

Shadow had been working for some days on his first three bears, all of which were being crafted to represent Battlefield Park:

A baker's dozen teddy bears were delivered, each wielding a little plastic scepter (rated for ages 3 and up):

The next pair of teddy bears Shadow crafted and delivered to the Overlord were to honor the security guards of the Dragon's Gate Orphanage. Each bore one of the guard's names on an eartag:

Even Grace, though she was not a Baron, but a very proud Squire of Battlefield Park, got into the teddy bear making game! Several "Hippy" Teddy Bears were left to be donated in hopes that they would make someone's season bright!

All those needle pricks beat up my fingers pretty badly. Worth it though since my bears are finished.

I'll be gift wrapping all fifty and sending them off to the DGO. Expect them!

Another type of teddy bear was dropped off to be donated. No note as to who, but if you could guess....
