August 2014 Archmage Tournament -Marketplace Street Festival
The August Archmage Tournament will be held on Sunday, August 24th at 9:00pm Eastern and will take place in the Marketplace! The format will most likely be double elimination (depending on entrants), and late entrants have no more than 5 minutes to arrive. Seeding will begin at 9:05pm, and casting will begin at 9:10pm.
Seeding will be based on the most recent RoK rankings. Early registration will cut off on Saturday, August 23rd at 9:00pm. Any late registrants or walk-ins will automatically be ranked below early registrants. Registrants tied with the same ranking will be seeded by WoL.
Lem, 2007's cutest caller, will be our host so please register early so that he knows how many entrants to prepare for.
Please post your registrations as replies to this thread. Good luck everyone!

It's worked well, so we will adhere to a 5 minute casting limit each round in order to try and keep the tourney from running too late. Exceeding 5 minutes once will result in a friendly reminder from the caller. Anything after that will result in a mis-cast, meaning no spell was invoked and the opponent's spell scores for maximum damage. After a mis-cast, the duelist is still not allowed to use whatever spell they most recently used. That way the mis-cast does not serve as a type of disengage. In the case anyone needs more than 5 minutes for an urgent/special circumstance, please alert the caller, opponent, and the room so they they know you need a few minute and will return asap.
Also in the case that the tourney does run long, if the majority of remaining participants and the caller prefer to finish the tourney on another night, that is fine so long as the tourney is finished within a few days in order to allow the Archmage and challenger enough time to complete the challenge before the new cycle starts on Sunday 08/31. Any questions, you know where to find me. Thanks!))

Lem, you're still the cutest caller. I will endeavor to be in this or help call, whichever is needed.

I was there to oversee this challenge by Jade Alcar against Archmage Lem DeAngelo for the Isle's supreme title! It went a little something like this:
Lem defends in two duels! Well tried Jade, and nice defense, Lem!

Code: Select all
Primus 1! Lem starts out with a powerful and impressive deluge. Jade, however, gets to the heart of the matter first, and reveals to him his darkest fears. Perhaps, a land without sleep? (FT/MS) 1-0 Jade
Primus 2! Jade continues her mental barrage trying to delve further into the mind of the Archmage! He produces a simple shield to prevent this. (MW/SH) 1-.5 Jade
Primus 3! Lem unleashes the darker forces that are within the purview of the Mages, no less the First. Jade protects herself to increase the margin of her lead! (AR/NR) 1.5-.5 Jade
Primus 4! The Archmage spins out a more superb defense spell, defending his nostrils and lungs from Jade's own foul sending and tying the score! (FF/FSH) 1.5-1.5
Primus 5! Jade unleashes a great deal of sharp sorcery towards our well-bearded Archmage. Apparently Lem likes his beard the way it is, for he avoids the spell with a ghost's blithe agility, and takes the lead! (FWB/GF) 2-1.5 Lem
Primus 6! Jade unleashes the considerable power of her mind, but the Archmage once again proves impossible to pin down, his own magic preserving him from harm, mental or physical! (MW/FDP) 3-1.5 Lem
Primus 7! Lem turns from avoidance to offense, trying to cut into Jade with a swift spell! Her powerful bolt of magic melts that goal, and most of Lem's lead, to slag! (FMB/WB) 3-2.5 Lem
Primus 8! These two have been handling such mighty forces, that it seems it's time for a break! The Archmage yet displays considerable flourish in his break-time sorcery. (SH/FSH) 3-2.5 Lem
Primus 9! Well, they're off break time! Jade unleashes a Mage's dark, eldritch might, but something about an ethereal Lem both protects him, and unnerves her! Both gain a slight advantage! (NR/GF) 3.5-3 Lem
Primus 10! Jade brings down so much magical stuff on the Archmage, it's almost impossible to see what's going on up there! But he manages to startle her, and reach a hair's breadth from match point! (FMS/FT) 4.5-3 Lem
Primus 11! Jade seeks to gain herself some breathing room by erecting a solid defense, but the Archmage's ethereal fingers can reach past the chinks in her armor! Lem wins the first duel! (AR/GF)
((FINAL: Lem DeAngelo .def. Jade Alcar, 5-3 in 11))
Secundus 1! Jade calls upon her powers to escape the wrath of the Archmage, but this opening round his blast is too cold and pervasive! (DP/AB) 1-0 Lem
Secundus 2! Lem calls upon the powers of flame to surround himself with a powerful bonfire! Its heat is quite enough to melt Jade's attempt to reflect it back! (RF/IM) 2-0 Lem
Secundus 3! Both of these duelists bring amazing power to bear, Jade mustering an impressive bolt of sorcery, but the Archmage mustering the right defensive spell to send it back! (FMB/FRF) 3.5-0 Lem
Secundus 4! Jade takes herself right out of this world, getting on the board with some powerful dematerialization! Lem's nether magic still affects her a bit, however! (FGF/NR) 4-1 Lem
Secundus 5! Jade marshals her magic to send a powerful rain of destruction upon the Archmage! However, he's not around to feel the pain! (FMS/FGF)
((FINAL: Lem DeAngelo .def. Jade Alcar, 5-1 in 5))
