On Sunday, August 3 (time TBD), the Outback's going to host a Tag Team tournament with the Panther's Claw and FireStar as the prizes for the winning team!
Teams of any ranks can pair together with the following exceptions:
The Diamond may not enter the tournament
Opals may not enter the tournament
Two Emeralds may not pair together on the same team
An Emerald and Sapphire may not pair together on the same team
If a team of non-Emeralds wins the tournament, one team member may select the Panther's Claw and one may select FireStar. If the two teammates cannot come to an agreement as to who takes which prize, the two may elect to fight one another in a one-shot duel. The winner of that duel may select their prize first; the other prize will go to the remaining teammate.
Eight teams registered. Amazingly all sixteen duelers attended, on time. Random pairings were drawn.
Ring 1: Mel and Bob vs. Lacey and Myria
Ring 2: Skid and Sal vs Rachael and Bael
Ring 3: Charles and Kyo vs Maverick and Sandy
Ring 4: Kruger and gwen vs Anubis and Mystogen
First round of the tournament. Bob landed a spinkick. It got better from there. Other highlights of the opening round include Kruger and Gwen running around constantly as they attempted to tag out every round, one of two non-emerald teams in Maverick and Sandy giving Charles and a run before being eliminated in 16 rounds and finally Sal and Skid landing a spinkick hook double team as Rachael tried in vain to dodge away.
When the dust settled after nearly two hours of dueling the semis were:
Ring 5: Charles and Kyo vs Skid and Sal
Ring 6: Lacey and Myria vs Gwen and Kruger
Ring five looked to be in good shape for Skid and Sal win after six rounds they had managed to keep Kyo in the ring in the fifth round with Sal landing a double spinkick to defeat the double team. They then eliminated Kyo the next round. Charles however was not to be stopped and dished out six hits over the next six rounds to advance to the finals!
Kruger didn't have quiet the same luck in fending off the double team of Lacey and Myria after Gwen was eliminated by a sneak attack double team by Lacey. My and Lacey moved on to the finals after 16 rounds of action.
The finals started out with Myria and Charles duking it out for several rounds, and they'd both been hit three times after six rounds when they launched a double team, both hitting Charles to eliminate Charles; forcing Kyo into the ring. Lacey greeted Kyo with a jab, giving the girls a two point advantage. Kyo overcame that over the following nine rounds, carrying his team to the victory!
Charles is your new holder of FireStar, and Kyo Mori is the newest Panther's Claw holder!
