February 2013 Archmage Tournament

The February Archmage Tournament will be held on Monday, February 4th at 8:00pm Eastern! The format will be double elimination, and late entrants have no more than 5 minutes to arrive. Seeding will begin at 8:05pm, and casting will begin at 8:10pm. Seeding will be done via the most recent RoK rankings. Please post your registrations as replies to this thread. Good luck everyone!



((In the last tournament we waited until 8:30pm to start, but that extends the conclusion of the tournament until well past the time I need to be offline, so we'll need to start this one at 8pm again. Thanks!))

We had 5 entrants for this shindig tonight. Vinny, Rachael, Rena, Harris, and Nayun all think our Archmage is terrible and they wanted him kicked out of the Celestial Tower as soon as possible. So we got down to business quickly and let them duel for the right to challenge the Archmage. The seeding was based on RoK rankings with overall WoL used as a tie breaker:
1) Vinny
2) Rachael
3) Rena
4) Harris
5) Nayun

In Round 1: Vinny started out with a bye while Nayun defeated Rachael 5-2 in 4, and Harris bested Rena 5.5-3 in 8.

In Round 2: Harris earned the bye while Vinny defeated Nayun 6-5 in 10 in the winner’s bracket, and Rena eliminated Rachael 5-1.5 in 9 in the lower bracket.

In Round 3: Harris defeated Vinny 5-2 in to win the winner’s bracket, and Rena eliminated Nayun 6.5-5.5 in 13 in the lower bracket.

In Round 4: Vinny eliminated Rena 5-3.5 in 8 to win the lower bracket and earned a rematch against Harris in the finals.

In Round 5: Vinny quickly took the lead and never looked back as he won the first duel 5-1.5 in 7 and forced a reset for a final, decisive match.

In Round 6: Vinny started out with a small lead, but Harris gained the lead in round 2 and quickly built up a 4.5-1.5 lead after round 6. Vinny then scored in the following 3 rounds to cut Harris’s lead to 4.5-4. Round 10 was a dual ghostform null round, followed by dual fear touches in round 11 to make the score 5.5-5 Harris. Round 12 saw Harris use his last focus on a set of wizard blades while Vinny’s mind whip gave him a 6-5.5 lead, which was his first lead since round 1. In round 13 Vinny’s ghostform allowed him to dodge Harris’s fear touch to take the comeback win!

Vinny wins the Archmage Tournament and will face Lem for the Celestial Tower later this week!
