May Archmage Tournament

It's that time again! The Archmage Tournament will be held this Sunday, May 27th at 9pm EDT! The format will be double elimination, and late entrants have no more than 10 minutes to arrive. Seeding will begin at 9:05pm, and casting will begin at 9:10pm. Seeding will be done via the most recent RoK rankings. Please post your registrations as replies to this thread. Good luck everyone!

Excuse me if I am wrong, but were you not the one to shrink away from responsibility of an Opal? But now you seek the coveted title of ArchMagi?

I urge the current ArchMagi and the governing body to carefully consider this persons entry into this Tournament. Given her record she will only abandon the title many other seek.

I do not believe we have met
I do not see you in the histories
I do see you in the current rankings
Though you are unable to enter the tournament others of the rank of mage can
You can only hope that one of them defeat me
I have retired titles and it was my choosing to do so
I will not make excuses for my choices
But I am a duelist and I will compete where I wish
Perhaps when you gain proper rank you may be able to challenge me if by chance I do become ArchMage
Though the chance is slim that I will become it
Lem is a strong opponent
I only defeated him once in a duel
The other mages that may compete are also strong opponents
You should have more faith in them

As this post is for registrations I ask that you please not respond
I will be coming to the duels this weekend to watch possible opponents
Speak with me then if you have any more concerns

Heckling at the tournament or via this post is not only allowed, but is encouraged. For anyone that needs help in this area, please remember that both Tass and Matt are so old that if they actually acted their age they'd be dead. Also, when Tass was a boy rainbows were still in black and white. And when Matt was in school, history class hadn't even been invented yet.

The Archmage tournament went down tonight, and I had the opportunity to call the matches. We started out with Double Elimination format with Matt getting the bye and Sivanna defeating Vinny 5.5-2 in 11 while Nayun defeated Xanth 5.5-3.5 in 11. Vinny was called away from the Island and had to withdraw after round 1. This left an uneven number of contestants in the winner's bracket and left only 1 person in the loser's bracket, so we decided to move into Round Robin format with the remaining 4 contestants. Vinny and Sivanna's first duel did not count towards the tournament ranking. Matt and Sivanna basically had a null round 1 while Nayun defeated Xanth 5.5-3.5 in 11.

Round 2:
Xanth defeated Matt 5-2.5 in 6
Nayun defeated Sivanna 5-3.5 in 9

Round 3:
Xanth defeated Sivanna 5.5-3 in 6
Matt defeated Nayun 8.5-7 in 14

Round 4:
Matt defeated Sivanna 5-3.5 in 9

At the end of Round 4 Matt was 2-1, Xanth was 2-1 and Nayun was 2-1. The Duel of Magic precedence for ties in Round Robin tournaments is point differential per duel. Using the point differential tie breaker, Matt was in 3rd place with 0.5 points, Nayun was in 2nd place with 2 points, and Xanth was in 1st place with 3 points. Xanth is the winner of the Archmage tournament and will press challenge for the title of Archmage and Keeper of the Celestial Tower!

Xanth and I will be meeting this Wednesday, May 30th at 8pm RST. Sarah has agreed to be the official. Make sure you stop by the Island on Wednesday before heading to the Outback.
