“One piece of gold, but only if you make sure to deliver this to the Archmage right now.” The goblin she was speaking to did not quite respond the way she had expected. There was a bit of grabbing and growling, but her package was snatched from her hands rather quickly.
With a few growls and grumbles the goblin did what he needed to get to the Celestial Tower while she waited in the trees of the Isle. He gave a few snorts and huffs, puffs even, as its small claw like hand banged on the door. With a small puff, the package was “dropped” on the door step. The goblin gave another growl before stomping away from the tower.
When he returned to her, his grabby hand waited, claws extended for the single gold piece she gave it. As he walked away he bit at the coin, chewing on the edges as if to see if it was genuine. She, meanwhile, made a hasty retreat through the portal.
Within the box was a small note and half a dozen chocolate cup cakes with icey white frosting. The note would read:
Lem,
I admire your spirit.
Your Admirer,
V.
Someone to Admire

Lem stood with his arms folded across his chest as he stared at the Flame of Genesis that was concealed deep within the temple of the ArchMage. The white flames roared within the Circle of Genesis, occasionally leaping toward the old mage as he drew more of their power into him. Lem furrowed his brow, deep in concentration. He was searching for something, or rather someone. The mana that flowed through the Celestial Tower enhanced his senses, but there was still no trace in finding the man that had killed Lem many years ago. Lem's death and resurrection had aged him greatly, but he was certainly content to simply be alive. Still, there might be a way to turn back the clock if he could trace down the dark wizard that had cursed him over ten years ago. And even if there wasn't, the two of them still had unfinished business.
A light tapping was barely heard through the room, but it was enough to grab Lem's attention. The Flame quickly grew silent as Lem turned and made his way to the entrance. He cast the spell to disperse the weaves guarding the entrance as the door slowly faded away. He looked down noticing a package on the steps, so he bent over to collect it. Without hesitation he opened the package since he assumed it must be for him.
"Cupcakes? And they're from someone named V. who admires my spirit?" Lem teleported to the edge of the island to look down for the person who delivered the package, but there was no one within view. He stood there for a moment, and finally it hit him.
"Of course! These must be from Vincent Smith. I guess after all of these years he must want to honor me as some sort of hero from his youth." Lem nodded to himself as he started walking back towards the Temple, but he glanced back at the note again. "Vinny has really nice handwriting. That's impressive that he found the time to learn calligraphy since he's usually busy taking care of the Celestial Tower."
Lem took a bite out of one of the cupcakes as he walked back into temple. "These are good though, so I suppose I'll need to thank him later."
