The ArchMage Open Tournament

Patrons of the Isle,

I will be hosting a 2 week tournament starting on Friday, August 26th that will be based on duelists' performance during regularly scheduled dueling hours. To the winner of the tournament, I will transfer the powers of the ArchMage to them via the Flame of Genesis at the Celestial Tower, thus granting them with enough mana to use all of the powers of the ArchMage during 1 week of regular dueling. The runner-up will receive a Celestial Gem that will allow them to use 1 Celestial Fury during regular dueling. The gem will lose all of its power after one use.

Anyone ranked Wizard or below is eligible for the tournament and subsequent prizes. The scoring for the tournament is relatively simple. Each duelist will receive 0.5 points for participating in a duel of magic during regularly scheduled dueling hours. Duelists will receive 1 additional point for each victory. Additionally, duelists will receive an extra 0.25 bonus for defeating higher ranked opponents. If an apprentice defeats an enchanter, the apprentice gains a 0.25 bonus towards their total score. If an apprentice defeats a sorcerer, the apprentice will gain 0.5 points. If an apprentice defeats a wizard, they will gain 0.75 points, and an apprentice defeating a mage+ gains an extra 1 point. Points are never deducted, not even for losses.

So if Johnny Apprentice defeats Madam Sorcerer, the apprentice receives 0.5 for participating in the duel, 1 point for the win, and a bonus 0.5 points for beating someone 2 ranks ahead of him. The apprentice receives a total of 2 points from that duel. Madam Sorcerer would receive 0.5 points just for dueling.

Registration is not necessary since this tournament is open to everyone ranked at Wizard or below, and duels will be fought during regular dueling shifts. The tournament begins on Friday, August 26th and will conclude at the close of Tuesday, September 6th. I will update the tournament standings as a reply to this post after each night of dueling. The winner of the tournament will be able to use the ArchMage's powers during regular dueling on September 9th, 11th and 13th.
