DoM4 Public Testing Now Open! [UPDATE: Finalized!]

Greetings, patrons of the Duel of Magic!

After testing the new ward in two tournaments and making adjustments as necessary, we are satisfied with it, and have the next draft of the final changes to Duel of Magic's ruleset prepared and ready to test in regular dueling! This is the fourth major revision to Duel of Magic, and will thus be referred to as DoM4 until the next cycle when we will most likely implement it for good.

During public playtesting, if the caller on duty, you, and your opponent are all willing, you can fight regular Magic duels using the new ward instead of the current ward. If you want to use DoM4, you must call in your duel explicitly as a DoM4 duel. These duels will count on the standings, so if you feel more comfortable in the new wards, you might as well take advantage of it.

Certain dynamics in the new ward have also inspired some rules changes, which will take effect when you're fighting testing duels. We will be eliminating the Magician rank, thus rendering Wizard at 10 WoL, and Mage at 15 WoL. If you're a Magician and you fight a DoM4 duel, you will fight as a Wizard, and if you're a Wizard, you fight as a Mage and you get to pick a Mage spell to use.

We will be watching duels and duel results, and listening to duelists' input to make sure regular dueling with the new ward goes as smoothly as tournament dueling has. Make sure to contact us if you have any comments!

As of now, the new Duel of Magic has been finalized! The old version of Duel of Magic will no longer be officially be available to use; the new version will be the only officially available version. The old ward has been uninstalled from both Twilight Isle and the Annex, and is preserved in the archives.

We would like to thank all the duelists and callers who participated in testing, to make this new era possible. We hope you enjoy this new version of Duel of Magic for years to come!
