December All-Ranks Tournament
Hello, patrons of Twilight Isle!
It's once again time for the All-Ranks Tournament! Everyone is invited to enter, including those not on the standings. It will take place on Wednesday, December 15th, at 9:00 PM RST. Late entries will have until 9:15 to arrive, and the tournament will then start. Sai will be officiating. As always, the entire advanced tier will be available to all duelists regardless of rank, but mage spells and furies will not be permitted.
All wins earned in thhe tournament will be added to your career standings! In addition, the first place winner will receive 2000 nobles and a guaranteed rank increase, the second place winner 1000 nobles, and the third place winner 500 nobles! The tournament format will be decided depending on participation, but double elimination will likely be used. Seeding will be done according to the cycle rankings, with late entries automatically seeded at the bottom to prevent holding up the start of the tournament.
The tournament this time around will have a holiday theme. It'll be snowing on the isle, and it will be decorated with christmas lights. There will even be a nice big blinged out christmas tree!
Post your pre-registrations as replies to this thread and keep an eye on it for updates; there will likely be additional prizes! After all, 'tis the season to be giving. Good luck, everyone!

I will enter this. I am often busy at that hour but will try to adjust my schedule to arrive on time.
Regardless, please accept and enjoy the hot tubs that will be set up for the event. I found several goblins in the Tower of Water and put them to work. They will have warmed towels and robes and be serving drinks to those who ask.
Enjoy!

Unfortunately, Hochi could not reach the rank of Enchanter, so the Tower of Air will be offered again in this tournament. In any case, congratulations to Hochi on winning it, and we hope he enjoyed his reign.
See October's ART thread for information on how the Tower of Air will be offered.

((Unfortunately, something came up and I'll have to start the tournament late. I should only be 30-45 minutes late, but I will start the tournament the instant I return.
If another caller could start the tournament for me, it would be greatly appreciated; just do the seeding according to the cycle rankings and put last minute entrants on the bottom.
I can't apologize enough for this.))

The All-Ranks Tournament happened! I was there! I saw it! It was really awesome! There was a much better turnout than expected!
Unfortunately, a group of rogue penguins were holding me hostage at the north pole, causing me to miss the start of the tournament. "But Sai," I hear you cry out in objection, "aren't you, like, super strong and awesome?" Why yes I am, thank you for noticing! But so were the penguins! It was freaky and disturbing! Anyways, Mur actually did a good deed and called the start of the tournament for me, even took care of the seeding. He did a good job on that, not gonna lie. So thanks go out to him for that. I also yanked Porthos away from a make-out session to help me out in the later hours, so thanks go out also to him for staying to help and not trying to kick my ass.
The way the matchups were chosen were that in each bracket, the highest seed fought the lowest seed. Whenever there was an uneven number of duelists in a bracket, the bye went first to the duelist who just entered losers', and then to the highest seed who hasn't yet received a bye. And we had a huge turnout: 10 duelists! So if you want me to draw another one of those nifty brackets I do for single elim tournaments, that's too bad! It's not gonna fit, and it'll probably just look really confusing!
The first round of duels saw Sarah defeating Evan, Rachael defeating Rhaine, Guaire defeating Leroy, Xanth defeating Lem, and Kheld defeating Misty. And it was after the first round was done that I announced the super special extra bonus prize...
One extra win for EVERYONE in the tournament to go on to the standings! That's right, everyone! Even those who would fight two, lose two, and be out, and even for whoever would exchange their tourney wins for the Tower of Air!
So with that, we moved on to the second round. Sarah had the bye in winners', and Misty had the bye in losers'. Kheld defeated Rachael, and Xanth defeated Guaire in winners'. In losers', Evan eliminated Lem, and Leroy eliminated Rhaine.
In the third round, Xanth got the next bye in winners', and Rachael got the next bye in losers'. Kheld defeated Sarah in winners', and in losers', Evan eliminated Guaire, and Misty eliminated Leroy.
The fourth round saw the finals for the winners' bracket: Xanth vs. Kheld! Xanth reigned victorous here, earning himself a place in the finals and a break until the resolution of the losers' bracket! In the losers' bracket, Sarah eliminated Evan, and Misty eliminated Rachael.
Kheld had the bye, having just entered losers', so Sarah and Misty fought it out to determine who would fight him for a place in the final. Sarah reigned victorious here, guaranteeing herself at least a third place finish. She then went on to fight Kheld, who defeated her and held her to that third place finish. Congratulations to Sarah on that strong showing!
The final duel then took place in ring Anemoi, the special ring of the Keeper of Air! Xanth needed to win only one duel to win the tournament, and Kheldar needed to win two! The first duel's winner was... Xanth, thus eliminating the need for a second! Thus Kheldar was the second place winner, and Xanth the first place winner! Congratulations to both!
Xanth did elect to exchange his wins for the Tower of Air, and has thus become its new Keeper! Congratulations, Xanth!
And congratulations also to everyone who entered the tournament, on buffering their records a little bit!
That does it for my completely awesome writeup! See you guys later!
