Greetings everyone,
Lem is our new Arch Mage. In order for him to move into the Citadel he had to retire as the Keeper of Earth. This leaves the Tower of Earth temporarily without a Keeper. To give Twilight Isle the chance to select a new Keeper of Earth Sai will host a tournament on the evening of Tuesday, 19 January 2010. The tournament is to start promptly at 9:30 PM by the Eastern Clock. Everyone ranked as at least Enchanter will be permitted to participate. Please send your pre-registration to Sai at Duel Sai. The format of the tournament is yet to be determined and will depend on the number of participants.

There was a tournament! I was there! I saw it! And it was excellent!!
I had four pre-registrants, and two spontaneous entrants. I had Mart Di'Luna, Guillermus Iulius Fortis, Querylon, Tasslehofl Momus, Kalinda Acheron, and Vincent Smith. It was a double elimination tournament.
Kalinda and Vinny fought in Dhaos. They kept it close the whole time, but Vinny won with a one point lead, 5.5 to 4.5 in 12. Thanks to the closeness, Kalinda earned herself a bye in the losers' bracket. Guill and Tass fought in Miktran, and this one was not as close. Tass won 5 to 2 in 13. But the margin of victory was not as big as Mart's over Querylon. That one ended 5 to 1.5 in 9. That earned him the bye in the winners' bracket.
So next, it was Tass vs Vinny, and Guill vs Querylon. Vinny won 5 to 4 in 9, sending Tass to the losers' bracket, and Guill won 5.5 to 3 in 12, eliminating Querylon.
Next, the final match of the winners' bracket took place, Mart vs Vinny, while Kalinda and Guill fought in the losers' bracket. Mart defeated Vinny 5 to 3.5 in 10 to secure his place in the final match in ring Titan. Kalinda defeated Guill 5 to 2.5 in 8.
The only thing left to do before the final were the last two losers' bracket matches. Tass soundly defeated Kalinda, 5.5 to 1 in 11, which was almost a shutout at one point. Then Tass went on to defeat Vinny, 5 to 3 in 10, which sent him on to face Mart in Titan.
Mart had two lives for this duel, so to speak, whereas Tass only had one. This could have gone on to a second duel... but it didn't. In a very close duel, Mart defeated Tass 5 to 4 in 11 rounds, to win the Tower of Earth.
Congratulations to the new Keeper of Earth, Mart Di'Luna! And congratulations and thanks to everyone who participated and watched the tournament!
