Talon of Redwin Results

Post by DUEL Jaycy »

What an amazing event it was last night!

We had eleven entrants and a whole gaggle of spectators for the Fall Talon of Redwin Tournament! Excitement was in the air (along with a bit of a fall bite) - could Anya do it again? She was certainly there to take a shot!

Matt, Napoleon, Salvador, Kalinda, Lucius, Anya, Michiko, Skid, Sandalio, Wyh and Candy were all on hand (or jumped in and said "Sure!") to fight for the coveted dirk.

The tournament was held in a single elimination format, and Skid got a first round bye as having the highest ranking in regular fighting in the basement.

Round One

Right off the bat, Anya was tested - sorely - by Candy! Their duel was the longest of the night, and the only one to be driven into overtime! Salvador and Matt found themselves in Ring Two. I'm not sure what Kalinda knew what to do with the rat, Napoleon, at first, in the first round. Lucius and Sandalio squared off as well. Last but not least, Michiko and Wyh faced each other. Every match in this first round was close and went down to the wire!

In the end, Anya, Matt, Napoleon, Sandalio, and Michiko were left moving on.

Anya def. Candy, 7-6 in 16 rounds.
Matt def. Sal, 5.5-4.5 in 15 rounds.
Napoleon def. Kalinda, 5-4 in 10 rounds.
Sandalio def. Lucius, 5.5-4 in 11 rounds.
Michiko def. Wyh, 5.5-4.5 in 10 rounds.
Eliminated: Candy, Sal, Kalinda, Lucius, Wyh

Round Two

The crop thinned quickly, we were down to three duels! Skid was thrown into the mix after his nice, relaxing first round. He had the fortune (or perhaps misfortune) of facing Anya, who was nice and warmed up! Matt met the cutest PiRATe in the duels (who was on shoreleave, lucky for all in attendance), and Michiko and Sandalio got together. In the ring, I mean! Skid and Anya fought to the bitter end, showing why they were ranked 1 and 2 for this show, and kept us all leaning forward on the edge of our seats! In the other two rings, it was clear who was in control and who would be moving on.

Michiko and Napoleon sailed to the next round, while Anya pulled out the nailbiter to keep hopes of a repeat alive.

Anya def. Skid, 5.5-4.5 in 14 rounds.
Napoleon def. Matt, 5-1.5 in 8 rounds.
Michiko def. Sandalio, 5-1.5 in 9 rounds.
Eliminated: Skid, Matt, Sandalio

Round Three

Anya had her own chance to rest after two tough fights. Besides, she had to see who she would be facing in the finals! Michiko and Napoleon both had quick fights, so they were able to jump right into the ring. Michiko kept control of the match, and after 10 short rounds, she had assured us that the Talon would again go to a female dueler!

Michiko def. Napoleon, 5.5-3 in 10 rounds.
Eliminated: Napoleon

Round Four - Finals

After a very brief history lesson on the reason for the tournament, the ladies were called to action in the final round! Michiko and Anya both looked tired, and worn from the trials of the evening, but neither gave up. They fought hard, and gave everything. An air of anticipation hung in the basement - could Anya do it again? Attack after attack came, they exchanged blows!

After four and a half hours, one woman stood: Anya. She had done it. She had won again.

Congratulations to Anya, this cycle's Talon of Redwin!

Anya def. Michiko, 5-4 in 10 rounds.
Eliminated: Michiko
