[DUEL Topaz]

On Monday, May 5th, at 9:00 pm EST the March Arch Mage Challenge Tournament will be held on Twilight Isle to determine which mage is worthy of challenging the Archmage for his title. Anyone who is listed as at least a Mage in the rankings as of that Monday evening is able to enter. The format will depend on the number of entrants. Please contact Duel Topaz ((PM)) with your intent to enter.

The AMT was held May 5 and was competed in by Lem DeAngelo and Topaz Daratrazanov in a Best of Three competition.

The results were as follows:



AMT 1 Round 1: Lem's mind whip lashes out and penetrates through Topaz's armor for first hit. 1-0 Lem
AMT 1 Round 2: Lem's blast of icy air is no barrier to Topaz's bolt of mage energy! She ties it up 1 all
AMT 1 Round 3: Lem's quick with that mind whip, and once again he lashes out to catch Topaz before her fearsome touch can reach him. 2-1
AMT 1 Round 4: Lem's armor keeps out Topaz's noxious fumes most advantageously. 2.5 - 1 Lem leads
AMT 1 Round 5: Lem is not having much success with that arctic weather as once again Topaz's mage bolt sears him. 2.5 - 2 Lem
Ring AMT Round 6: Lem's attempt to gho ghostly is partially successful, and Topaz's nether ray is partially successful. 3-2.5 Lem leads
AMT 1 Round 7: Lem's fearsome touch makes Topaz forget what she was going to do with that mage bolt. 4-2.5 Lem leads
Ring AMT Round 8: Lem's blades dice Topaz's meteors into dust. 4.5 - 2.5 Lem leads
Ring AMT 1 Round 9: Lem's noxious fumes are just the advantage he needed to claim the first win as Topaz's mind whip is lost in the fog. 5-2.5 Lem secures the first win.



AMT 2 Round 1: Lem's touchy feely spell is not appreciated by Topaz, nor Lucien, and she displaces just in time. 0.5 - 0 Topaz.
AMT 2 Round 2: Lem's blades slice up Topaz's fingers as she tries to get all touchy feely. 1-0.5 Lem
AMT 2 Round 3: Lem's shield keeps out Topaz's mage bolt very advantageously. 1.5 - 0.5 Lem
AMT 2 Round 4: Lem's mage bolt impacts harmlessly against Topaz's armor. 1.5 - 1 Lem
AMT 2 Round 5: Lem's nether ray is sliced and diced when Topaz tosses a trio of blades at him. Tied up 1.5 all
AMT 2 Round 6: Lem's mage bolt is reflected right back at him when Topaz pulls out a very nice and shiny magical mirror. 2.5 - 1.5 Topaz
AMT 2 Round 7: Lem's meteors hit hard, but so does Topaz's nether ray!!! 3.5 - 2.5 Topaz
AMT 2 Round 8: Lem's displacement and Topaz's ghostly form are purely pointless.
AMT 2 Round 9: Lem's armor does manage to keep out Topaz's noxious fumes and draws closer. 3.5 - 3 Topaz
AMT 2 Round 10: Lem's touchy feely is sliced up soundly by Topaz's blades. 4.5 - 3 Topaz.
AMT 2 Round 11: Lem's blades are melted into slag as Topaz secures the score and the win, forcing this AMT into the tie breaker!



AMT 3 Round 1 begins, and Lem and Topaz show the love as they both go all touchy feely.... and thunder echos across the beach! 1 all
AMT 3 Round 2: Lem's nether ray is chopped into useless bits by Topaz's blades. 1.5 - 1 Topaz
DUEL Azjah: AMT 3 Round 3: Lem's shield and Topaz's armor are great defenses, but together are pointless.
AMT 3 Round 4: Lem's arctic blast collides with Topaz's arctic storm, and the two storms cancel one another completely.
AMT 3 Round 5: Lem's nether ray is once again sliced and diced!! 2-1 Topaz leads
AMT 3 Round 6: Lem's blades slice straight and true, except Topaz has diplaced and only air remains. 2.5 - 1 Topaz
AMT 3 Round 7: Lem's shiny mirror doesn't stay shiny as Topaz summons a noxious, foul cloud. 3-1 Topaz
AMT 3 Round 8: Lem's armor and Topaz's mirror are purely pointless.
AMT 3 Round 9: Lem's mind whip lashes out and reaches right through Topaz's blast of arctic wind. 3-2 Topaz leads
AMT 3 Round 10: Lem's mage bolt bounces harmlessly off Topaz's armor. 3.5 - 2 Topaz
AMT 3 Round 11: Lem and Topaz launch simultaneous mind whips, which tangle harmlessly.
AMT 3 Round 12: Lem ghose ghostly and avoids some of Topaz's nether ray, but she gets a partial lick in on him too. 4-2.5 Topaz
AMT 3 Round 13: Lem's armor is insufficient protection against the shower of meteors that Topaz drops on him to end this Tournament! 5-2.5 Topaz secures her second win, and the right to face the Arch Mage for the Celestial Tower.


And so the challenge went the full three matches to decide the victor, but in the end, Topaz secured the right to challenge Arch Mage Vincent Smith for the Celestial Tower!

[DUEL Rena]

Tuesday night, May 5, found the winner of the ArchMage tournament Topaz Daratrazanov go up against the current Celestrial Keeper, Vincent VM Smith.

The first two duels were called by Azjah with Vinny winning the first one 9-8 in 18 rounds and Topaz taking the second, 5-4 in 11 rounds. I had the pleasure of calling the third as Azjah had to depart.

Vinny started off the third duel slow but allowed Topaz to catchup in round three. She then took the lead but Vinny tied it in round five. Topaz though said enough was enough and started pulling away from Vinny and never looked back, retaking the lead and never relinquishing it again. Vinny didn't give up, scoring in rounds eleven and twelve. Topaz displaced though in round 13, to take the third duel 5-3.5. Taking two duels out of three allowed Topaz to claim the title of ArchMage.

Congratulations to Topaz for becoming the new Celestrial Keeper and to Vinny who gave it his all and keeping the matches close.

I apologize that circumstances prevented my entry into the Tournament, but Topaz finally got her turn, so it's all good.
