So....
Jaycynda Ashleana, Baroness of Dockside...
Xeric Mues, Baron of Dragon's Gate...
Damien Mortis, Baron of Seaside...
Rand al'Tan, Baron of New Haven...
We can all assume that at least one of you plans to appoint a champion for the Overlord's tournament, correct?

I am amazed by the fact that I find myself agreeing with Harris on this subject
the council has been remarkably reticent as of late with few details of challenges or other goings on being posted
of course now someone is going to come and ask what is it my place to talk of such things or why do I not attempt to do something about it by gaining rank and making a challenge
it is my place to talk of such things because I have the will and the wherewithal to talk of such things
I do not attempt to gain rank because my interests do not lay in spending multiple hours a night dueling. I duel in competitions such as tournaments and the like because I find them more entertaining as well as more challenging
if someone has a problem with that then they can attempt to do something about it or they can choose to continue living their lives

Are we expected to announce everything?
I chose my champion not long after the announcement was made and informed necessary parties of my choice on the 19th of last month. I chose not to clutter the boards and waste writing materials by letting the whole world know about something that did not personally affect them.
I answered when asked.
Some of us don't feel the need for pomp, circumstance, and drama with every movement, Harris. Quiet does not equal apathy or inactivity. Don't assume it does.

Cas put this on the board the day before Overlord Rollo announced that seven out of eight champions had be chosen. The only champion yet to be chosen was mine and I had already announced that I was looking. I was a bit slower than the other barons because my daughter's been pretty sick and I've had to deal with that.
So I assume, Harris, that you believe that all the barons that Cas mentioned immediately sent in their champions to the Overlord upon seeing his wonderful and constructive note. If the barons in question are so inactive, do you really believe that they would have bothered by the Arena in those few short hours between Cas demanding to know who they had chosen and Overlord Rollo saying that seven out of eight had been chosen?

If we're calling out Barons for complacency, I wonder about the rest of the dueling community.
Perhaps no one wanted to be chosen as a champion, as I received no requests or petitions. Or perhaps it was that no one wanted to be chosen to champion New Haven and the other Barons were deluged with offers.
It seems to me this sort of tournament would bring more duelist vying for Baronial favor, as the possible prize is out of reach for most, as Mr. Goldraven alluded to.
Perhaps I am biased due to my current standing, but to me it looks as though everyone but the Barons and Overlord lack interest in the goings on.
Sincerely,
Rand al'Tan

Honestly, it's no ones damn business who I decide to choose or when. It's especially not someones business when all they want is to know who their competition is so they can judge their own chances and scout.
The only person who should have made any post like this should have been the Overlord. This had nothing to do with "inactive Barons" or anything of the like. This had to do with one persons impatience at knowing what his competition was going to be. This was a person who was not told who was chosen and seemed to think that he deserved up to the minute updates about every detail involved in this tourney.
I think if another tournament like this happens where I get to make some sort of choice, I'm going to keep it completely secret until such time as the person running this tournament decides to disclose it.
And I am amused at those who are calling Barons complacent. That we're not dueling. Some of us duel more than a good portion of non-Barons. I understand that people have other things to do, I think it'd be appreciated if you realize that the same goes for Barons.
Now, Harris makes the note that "Without Cassius publicly outing these Barons who had yet to announce their champions would any of them have bothered to even appoint one?"
Well, the answer is yes. I know before Cassius made this note that Rand was trying to decide who to choose. I know that Jaycy had made her choice. I knew who Xeric had chosen. That covers most of the ones Cassius called out. I knew who I had chosen, I knew who Horatio chose and the Overlord. I didn't know about Maria until she made her little contest. I know neither Damien's choice, nor do I have my panties in a bunch over who it's going to be. It's Damien's choice. I expect we'll all find out when the Overlord announces the lineup.
So, rather than being all pissy because you're not in the know(And I don't mean Harris) learn some patience. The Barons are not obligated to tell anyone anything anymore than Non Barons are.
