Fall Cycle Warlord Tournament Results!

Post by DUEL Harris »

16 Warlords stepped up the plate this cycle to compete against one another for the chance to challenge current Overlord Cletus Ganderfald. The field was littered with newer faces, such as the Arena's most recently promoted Warlord Erin Dunbridge, and those that have shed their blood, sweat, and tears in the Arena sands for many years such as Karen Wilder and Elijah Solaris. Competition would prove to be fierce for the six rounds the tournament lasted.

ROUND ONE

The opening round was host to not only the longest match of the evening but the only shutout in the entire tournament as the sixteen Warlords present battled it out to secure their place in the Winner's Bracket.

Xeric defeats Anubis, 5-2 in 7 rounds
Aurora defeats Sylus, 5.5-4.5 in 19 rounds
Bran defeats Sartan, 5-2 in 9 rounds
Roland defeats Chris, 5-1 in 8 rounds
Daryl defeats Rena, 5-0 in 7 rounds
Querylon defeats Elijah, 5-1 in 5 rounds
Morgan defeats Erin, 5-3 in 11 rounds
Magnus defeats Karen, 5-1 in 7 rounds

ROUND TWO

The second round saw the first eliminations of the evening in last cycle's tournament winner Chris Graziano, Sylus, Rena, and the new kid on the block, Erin. Those in attendance were treated to another marathon match that came just shy of matching the Aurora/Sylus 19 round bout.

Aurora defeats Xeric, 5-3 in 11 rounds
Roland defeats Bran, 5-1.5 in 7 rounds
Querylon defeats Daryl, 5-3 in 9 rounds
Magnus defeats Morgan, 6-5 in 18 rounds
Anubis defeats Sylus, 5-4 in 14 rounds
Sartan defeats Chris, 5-2 in 8 rounds
Elijah defeats Rena, 5-2 in 5 rounds
Karen defeats Erin, 5-0.5 in 7 rounds

ROUND THREE

The third round saw nothing but Arena veterans ousted from the tournament as Sartan, Karen, Xeric, and Morgan were forced to wait until next cycle for their chance at a title. The sexes duked it out amongst themselves to decide who would move on to battle in the Winner's Bracket Finale.

Querylon defeats Aurora, 5.5-4.5 in 12 rounds
Roland defeats Magnus, 5-3 in 8 rounds
Anubis defeats Sartan, 5-2 in 7 rounds
Elijah defeats Karen, 5.5-3 in 11 rounds
Bran defeats Xeric, 5-4 in 9 rounds
Daryl defeats Morgan, 5-1 in 6 rounds

ROUND FOUR

This would be the final round for Daryl, Aurora, and Magnus and unbeknownst to most present would host the night's most pivotal match as Roland and Querylon would fight to decide the Winner's Bracket and in reality, the tournament itself.

Roland defeats Querylon, 5.5-4 in 12 rounds
Bran defeats Daryl, 5-3 in 9 rounds
Elijah defeats Aurora, 5-3 in 9 rounds
Anubis defeats Magnus, 5-2 in 8 rounds

ROUND FIVE

With nothing left to prove Roland was granted a rest until the Loser's Bracket was decided, which guaranteed the returning veteran a prize. The other four left were not as lucky. Querylon managed to spring right back after her loss to Roland, easily dispatching Anubis while the still surprisingly spry Elijah showed Bran a thing or two about pulling off close matches in their marathon fifteen rounder.

Querylon defeats Anubis, 5-1 in 7 rounds
Elijah defeats Bran, 7-6 in 15 rounds

ROUND SIX

For the second time this evening Querylon found herself a step away from securing a prize. This time Elijah was standing in her way. Seven rounds later she would prove victorious, setting up another confrontation between herself and Roland... or so everyone thought.

Querylon defeats Elijah, 5-2 in 7 rounds

After some debate and discussion it was decided amongst the final two competitors that no duel needed to take place. Roland would take the top prize, an intercession free shot at the Overlord while Querylon would take the Baronial challenge. Roland accepted this stipulation under the condition that if both he and Querylon were successful in their challenges that she would issue immediate challenge to him. And with that said the Fall Cycle Warlord Tournament came to a conclusion.

Many thanks to Rory, Vince, and especially Dioxane for their efforts officiating the tournament. We look forward to seeing you again next cycle!
