Archmage Tournament Results!

Post by DUEL Druid »

Four duelists met on the Isle to compete for the prize of facing Will Wulfson and vying for the position of Twilight Isles highest title. Out of the original 5 that registered for the event, Brigath regretfully had to withdraw and Vanion did not show up before the 15 minute period chimed closed. This left Topaz, Russel, Tassleholf, and Cory, the only late entrant as competitors for the evening.

Round One saw Cory and Tassleholf face off in Ring Rouhlette, whilst Topaz and Russle met each other in Ring Tempest. The battle was fierce but short lived as Cory and Russel both walked into Round two with their first victories of the evening after taking commanding leads in their respective matches.

Round Two slowed things down a touch as the matches went on longer. Cory and Russel met in Ring Geiser and battled on tossing the lead back and forth until Cory walked away with a 5-3 victory, and in ring Rouhlette, Topaz and Tassleholf squared off for their own battle with Topaz emerging triumpant and seeing Tass as the first to be eliminated for the evening. Well fought Tassleholf, and I hope to see you in the next tournament!

Round Three gave Cory the bye, and saw Russel and Topaz into Ring Tempest. Both duelist slowed things down a touch and caught their breath as they fought, with the see-saw trend of the evening leaving the lead to be constantly tossed up in the air before a quick one-two had Russell walking away with the win.

Here's where things got truly interesing folks! With Cory being undefeated and Russel sitting on a 2-1 record of the evening, he would need to beat Cory twice to take the prize, while Cory only has to win one!

Deciding this was a perfect opportunity to show off one of the new rings I mentioned, I cast Cory and Russel into Ring...

Pergatory!

Just as with my other rings, this one had it's own element of chaos and and testament to skill and ingenuity. Dangling over a river of fire, a series of chains lay suspended in air. Not always will a mage have his hands free. This would see how well the two men could adapt to a truly hellish environment.

Man was this match the duel of the century!

SIXTEEN! Count'em 16 rounds of magic, blood, and determination saw Russel battle his way out of deficite after deficite to bring the duel to ahead at 4.5 points to each man. Each having used nearly every spell in their repetoire amid fire, smoke, and pain. Round 13 had both men displace to kick their mutual scores up another notch to 5 each! Then we had a light show as meteors and ice collided in a dazzling array of power and might. To shoot us to round 15 where Cory went on to nickel and dime his way into round 16 and a 6-5 win over Russel!

Congradulations to Cory Havoick and all of the competitors that partook of the tournament and fought valiantly for the right to face Will Wulson, afffectionately called the "Arch-Meanie".

Time and date for Cory's challenge will be coming shortly.

Unless either of you have a preferred caller in mind, I will officiate this event.

You ran the show last night. I see no reason you should give the honor away.
