Madness #1 seeds

Post by DUEL Chris Graz »

We're closing in on the last few days of registrations and the list is nearly full!

With such an impressive list of names, nows your chance to make a case for who you think deserves a #1 seed!

I do, because of the large sum of money that will be anonymously donated to the "charity" of your choice should that occur.

Of those entered, those that, I think, would be deserving of a Number One seed are as follows, in no particular order..

Cletus Ganderfald
G'nort Dragoon-Talanador
Magnus Eques
Karen Wilder
Cassius Maximus
Ajay Bird

That's pretty much it, really.

I find G'nort's list somewhat lacking. Being the honest individual that I am, I suggest the following to be considered;

Cory Havoick (three Overlord defenses)
Topaz (umpteen Barony defenses)
Karen Wilder (Overlordship and two Barony defenses)
Rakeesh (Barony Defense, Overlord Challenge Intercession, third straight All-Star TDL Season)
Maria Graziano (Barony, All-Star TDL Season after two MVP Seasons)
Skyler Jackson (two WLT Tournament wins in a row, good TDL performance)
Magnus Eques (MVP Candidate in TDL [likely runner-up])
Matthew Simon (All-Star TDL Season possibly, Tour de Rhy'Din winner)

I'd vote for myself, but I blew both my Barony Challenge and Overlord Challenge, despite two solid WLT performances, and an WLT win.

Clearly ye've no idea o' th' histories, or ye'd know why th' Barkeep picked AJay, Vanion.

I willnae list m'self, 'tis base pride.

I would list:

AJay Bird
Cassius Maximus
Cletus Ganderfald
Elijah Solariss
G'nort Dragoon-Talanador
Lady Karen Wilder
Knight-Commander of the Order of the Knights Templar

So do I get my 16 seed? And Karen's right...any list of potential 1 seeds is incomplete without AJay.

If you include AJ, you'll have to include a few more of the older names that also have pretty good TDL histories as well as DoS histories!!

If Var had entered, he'd be a number 1 in my book.

Give examples!! :D

I included some TDL performances.

With considering overall records, went with those I picked there.

I admit that perhaps I forgot a couple people, but I think my list is fairly accurate when you figure you have to round it down to 4. I would personally have difficulty figuring out with two to eliminate to get it down from four. All the other names listed I've already eliminated. :)

Also, while I do think TDL important, I would feel that DoS records take precedence since this is primarily a DoS event.

At the moment, Topaz, Cory, and Skyler haven't entered(Skyler probably cause he's dead) so I wouldn't consider any of those. I can rule out Skyler and Cory on my list, but Topaz would likely be added to it.

I perhaps was confused. I thought these seedings were based on recent history, not longterm history. I am not used to seeding being done that way. My list was dealing with roughly the past year or so in the Arena, and past couple of TDL seasons.

I hear dead Skyler's doing pretty well over in TDL.

When I help seed, I'm going to be base it on all DoS/TDL history, since this is the first time we're running this tournament. I'm going to weigh DoS a little more than TDL and look at recently active duelers favorably. If we do this again in the future, it may just be based on the most recent year with more of a fleshed out committee doing the seedings, but for this year, this is how it will be done.

Well!!! Since my new best friend ever Chris GrRATziano said the seeding commission would look at history in both DoS and TDL that meant they were gonna give some oldie names some weight based on record, probably as an incentive to come out to play again instead of being old stay-at-homes!!

My friend Rhiley helped me write this all out but I had to share some of my gold coins and Trixie kept stealing them 'cuz she's Tricksy like that (she's very good at being a sneaky piRATe).

My first, second, third, and fourth seed picks would go to someone who held Overlord or MVP. I would weight years, number of times held, any special records (like who held OL longest out of this list, who had longest win streaks in TDL, things like that, and recent dueling status in either DoS OR TDL to rank these top names within the three seeds. Names below aren't in any order, they are just from the list (though one would have to bump down to fifth seed)!!!

Amaltea (OL)
Rena Cronin (OL)
Cassius Gaius Maximius (OL)
Anubis Karos (OL)
Cletus Ganderfald (OL)
Karen Wilder (OL)
Tarl Cabot (OL)
Maria Graziano (MVP)
Kalamere Ar'din (OL)
Riddick Diesel (MVP)
Morgan Le Fay (MVP)
Goon (OL)
Long Wang Lo (OL)
Grayson (OL)
Chris Graziano (OL)
Magnus Eques (OL)
Jaycynda Ashleana (OL)

My fifth, sixth, seventh, and eighth seed picks would go to someone who held baronies or are on the TDL record holder list (my arbitrary number of 30 duels minimum). Same criteria as above for ranking, these names are listed in no particular order.

TDL:
Rakeesh Sah Tarna
Joku Shoyia
Jake Thrash
Tareth Thorn
Rabmallet

Barons:
Tasslehofl Momus
G'nort Dragoon Talanador
Lorance Sneggle
Kheldar Drasinia
AJ Bird
Devion SilverBlade
Elijah Solariss
Harris D'Artainian
Horatio Macbeth
Daryl Kyle

After that I would weight remaining Warlords and Allstars, Grandmasters and Veterans, Master at Arms and Journeymen, Swordsmen and Utility, and finally Commoners and Rookies in the bottom seeds.

That's what makes sense to me cuz it's all about history and record! I'm just a rat though!! Who steals your treats when I get really hungry.

P.S. If you fall under my criteria and your name isn't on the list, I promise I didn't do it on purpose. I just forgot! Probably because not enough tummy scritches from you or maybe because I'm just a rat! It wasn't intentional (unless you've kicked me or pulled my tail in the past)!

ETA: Horatio! He was a baron too! And I don't think he's kicked me so I'll let him be on the list.

Everyone wins!

ETA2: OH NO! Grayson was totally supposed to be on the top list as OL (even though he wants to be last seed) to begin with. I knew this! I bet Trixie erased it. She's in soooo much trouble.

Everyone but Trixie wins! Yay!

ETA3: Chris gRATziano, Jaycy, and Magnus Rattus get promoted to the OL list! Daryl Kyle had a ring! I totally missed that one! YAY Daryl! Pizza time!
