Artemus,
I welcome the challenge and the chance to defend my title finally. I shall meet you on Wednesday the 27th day of this month at half past the hour of nine in the evening local RhyDin time to settle this challenge. Let us meet in the Swords Arena to duel this challenge and I leave an open invite for a caller to volunteer to officiate this matter of the sport. I do not currently have the favor of a lady to honor, but I am honored to have Xenograg Darelir to stand by me as my Second. Till then, fair travels.

Baron Bapheloctis contacted me earlier in the day and has asked for the challenge match to be post-poned till next week. I know not if this is allowed in the rules, but I am sorry if this inconveniences anyone.

::Anjolie tacked up the note on the corkboard with the caller's permission.::
For the first time in well over a year, I, Manius Cicero, took time out from the life of a gentleman of leisure to officiate a challenge which took place beyond the boundaries of my contract. But this was an honor, not a burden. Besides, watching others bleed and leisure are by no means mutually exclusive.
The Baron of the Eleventh/Old Market District, Baphelocutis est Lathodascia, recieved and accepted challenge from the finalist of the recent Warlord's Tournament, Artemus Kurgen.
Kurgen stood with the Overlord, Johnathan Ecorian Havoick, as his Second, in place of Gavilean Rex. A woman named Lady Helston stood as the anima who personified his honor. The Baron chose no one to second him in case of disaster, and no woman to stand for his honor. I found this fortunate, as he is a magnificent but immense creature, and I am not certain the foundations of the Arena could have withstood both the Baron and a female counterpart. The Warlord wielded a staff of ashwood; the Baron wielded his dreaded polearm, the SoB.
The action was held in one duel, but that one duel held the action and drama of an entire tournament. The Baron struck first with a direct attack by the SoB. It would have been a display of fortitude to merely continue after being impaled by that horrendous weapon, but the druid rallied as well. A deft defense tied the score, another deft defense won Artemus the lead, and a follow-up direct strike won a commanding 3-1 lead. As I openly voiced my observation that the trend of the match indicated a new Baron of the Eleventh, it appeared that the veteran Baron's formidable skills kicked in so that I may be proven wrong. The new Warlord again took a strong lead as his parry displayed the exquisite timing and skill he had learned in his time in the duels. But he had not spent the time here that the draconian has, and proved it by becoming overzealous and falling into a veteran's well-laid trap. The Baron's next direct strike proved more keenly timed, connecting underneath a swinging ashwood staff to tie the score at 4 apiece. Traded strikes would then assure that neither man would leave the ring having been humiliated. Given the reach of the weaponry involved, an abundance of thrusts was not surprising. And given the natural abundance of thrusts, it was equally not surprising that in the late 12th round, at 5 all, both men were wary of it.
However, here came the pivot on which the duel swung. The Warlord braced; the Baron sidestepped. It was late in a grueling duel, and the relatively inexperienced Warlord could not recover and defend with a sufficient enough flourish to secure the ring in the next round. The Baron thrusted, knowing he could not lose the 11th in that round. The Warlord, however, could muster enough defense to keep the duel alive and edge it in his favor...but he didn't. A high attack proved to be a horrendous mistake, and the SoB struck as cleanly as it had in the opening round.
Baphelocutis est Lathodascia remains the Baron of the 11th/Old Market District, and remains Renegade to the Overlord. An excellent job was done by all.
