Dockside Barony Challenge Results

Post by DUEL Glo »

On Thursday, January 26, the Barony of Dockside was contested. Challenger Caedia Thorn, granted the right of challenge via Overlord Grant, arrived with an ensemble. Standing with her was Tareth Thorn as second, G’nort Dragoon Talandor as sponsor and financial backer, Kheldar Drasnia as man of honor, and Charlie, the lusty undead who would, shall we say, chastise Caedia should she lose. The challenger selected Company of the Dragon shades, blue and sliver, as her colors, and offered her brassiere as banner, since it was the only suitable garment.

In contrast, Max, Baron of Dockside , stood alone, colorless, secondless, and without fanfare, anxious to complete the match. In an effort to arrive at a conclusion sooner rather than later, Max chose to fight under the `winner take all’ format in lieu of a Best of Three.

Once the match began, the two opened by assaulting one another. Caedia continued her offensive barrage, cutting three times in the opening three rounds to net a one point lead heading into the fourth. Stout defense protected her legs in the following round, after which Max put on a dazzling display of fancy footwork which, though perhaps worthy of the stage, garnered him no points. Tired of that, he simply stabbed Caedia to close the gap to within a half-point after the seventh round.

After more posturing and circling, both duelers impaled one another leaving Caedia one point away from becoming a Dockside Baroness. Perhaps ironically, the match ended exactly as it began, with both scoring, but Caedia netting the Barony. The whereabouts of the ring were (and, as far as I know, still are) unknown as Max, speaking of the ring, issued an eerie challenge of “Find it” to the new Baroness.

All in all, it was a well-fought match. Rumors abound of Caedia seeking a luxury yacht to reside on, the piRATes (avast, me hearties!) dreaming up ways to board, pillage, and plunder said yacht, and the ladies of Dockside debating over whether they, like their Baroness, should abandon undergarments.

To those interested in the round-by-rounds, I can only provide written descriptions (someone needs to install some cameras in the Arena) instead of the usual match-vid.

Until next time,

Matthew Algiers Simon
