I, Shard, hereby challenge Farek for Keeper of Water. I have finally made it a full cycle, and it's time to start testing the waters.

Challenge for Keeper of Water
Take away the phantom and one sees nothing - one admits that himself. Yet take away seeing, and one sees a phantom - one forgets that.

Due to the Keeper's non-appearance at the original scheduled time, I am suggesting that we reschedule for exactly one week from now, at the same time.
I hope to hear that Farek is alive and well, because if I take the Key, I want it to be fair and square.

From point 4 of Maintaining the Keeper Title of the DoM rules:
Defend against a challenge within two weeks of said challenge. First failure to appear will result in the challenge being rescheduled for within one week of the original date. Second failure to appear will be considered a forfeit and the challenger will be awarded the title. If a Keeper knows that they will be unable to answer potential challenges within a given week, the Keeper must give the DoM Coordinator advance notice ((This is to accommodate vacations, finals weeks, and like circumstances. This will be handled on a case by case basis.)) The DoM Coordinator will, on approving the extension, notify all parties involved: Both Challenger and Challenged, and the remaining Keepers. Only one possible extension per challenge will be approved. Extensions will vary according to the reason behind it at the discretion of the DoM Coordinator. At the termination of the extension, the Keeper has one week (7 days) to defend or stand in forfeit of title. Example: Extension is granted ending July 7. The Best of Three challenge must be scheduled and completed within 7 days, ending July 14.
Though Farek, the Keeper of Water, did accept Shard's challenge and scheduled a time and date for the match, he did not show up at the appointed time. He has made no effort for over a week since the missed match to contact the challenger or any of the DoM staff. Nor has the Keeper asked for an extension.
Therefor I hereby declare Farek in forfeit and Shard the rightful Keeper of Water, effective immediately.

Shard didn't need to be told that the key had been given to her. As soon as it graced her hand, a few things happened.
For one, the darkness she had become accustomed to in the past week lifted, and she could see as well as, if not better than, she had before.
Shard smiled, and went into the bathroom to look at her reflection, and nearly fainted.
Her eyes were the color of liquid, a deep sapphire blue.
And her skin seemed to shimmer, a slight iridescence that would have become a shell of some sort.
A few hours later, while she was in the shower, she felt something itching along her back. Pslyder knocked on the door, and ducked into the bathroom to talk to her, and stopped in shock.
"Shard, dear..."
"Yes?"
"Since when do you have scales?"
