He had thought long on what to do with the athenaeum. He was starting to spend less and less time in the tending of the business and that was something which he did not want. It was not so much the business which he didn’t like to see go down… no, that was something that would not happen. It was the caring for the books, scrolls, and resources that were held within that bothered him.
It wasn’t as if they would be lost forever if they did indeed become moth eaten… he had the originals of all the sources in his personal library, as well as many things that were not here in this one. Yet still, the knowledge that was here needed to be kept, and in truth, passed on.
Thus, the meeting he would have later with Ms. Rena Cronin. He had gathered much information over the young woman since she had expressed an interest in a possible job working at the Athenaeum. She had previously worked for a book store, and did seem to express an interest in teaching. This is what intrigued him. Anyone could tend the keeping of books, but it took a different sort to teach as well.
He would soon see if she was this special sort, and if so, and if she took the position, he would then turn to Xeno and see about helping school his newest charge. But, that was something still a bit in advance.
Turning his thoughts from that line, he looked to the time. It would soon be time that Ms. Cronin would arrive. Giving a quick swipe of his hands, he cleared the desk of all paperwork, and watched to make sure that they all made their way to their proper places in the files. Giving a snap, he locked the cabinets and then stood. It would be a matter of moments to just displace to the first floor, but what kind of effect would that be? Turning, he started down the stairs that lead from the fourth floor.

"I'm late, I'm late for a very important date
No time to say hello, good-bye
I'm late, I'm late, I'm late, I'm late
Lord, I'm late."
Not that she was late as no set time was stated but this little ditty kept running through Rena's mind as her steps took her closer and closer to the Athenaeum. Time past was spent pondering leaving RhyDin, especially after Klinton decided she wasn't a "strong" enough person and Darren dropped off the face of the planet. Hopefully both were happy in their current situations, one seeming to enjoy being a "kept" man and the other just generally being a man.
There had been two bright spots in the past month however: she had partnered with Skyler in the tag-team tournament and renewed a friendship with Jacques. In the tournament, she did better than most, including herself, expected having finished second. And with Jacques (or Jake as she called him) it was good to have him back. After the tourney, one of the winning team spoke to her and things kind of turned around from there. The other day, they were talking and the conversation turned to her past and what she did for a living. When she mentioned having spent time in a bookstore, his interest was somewhat peaked and so the reason she was now heading to what could be another drawing card for hanging around: she needed something to do besides training.
Putting aside the usual wearing apparel of jeans and T-shirt, she had donned a simple skirt and blouse, not one for being showy or wearing items inappropriate for certain areas. Pulling out the directions given to her, she saw that the dojo was up ahead so the building was not too far away. Somewhere nearby was the district's baronial lodging and it was just past that. Stuffing the directions back in the skirt pocket, a few more steps and she paused. Four stories of weathered brick and gleaming glass: a mixture of old and new, just like the owner in Rena's view. Taking a deep breath, she stepped to the door and knocked.

A letter is sent to the Athenaeum...
In these troubled times, many of RhyDin's once-great public institutions are dwindling. The RhyDin Magical Authority has no desire to recede into oblivion and is therefore truly dedicated to acheiving the goal of cultivating learning through-out the city. Unfortunately, the RMA has reached the end of its resources and is therefore in need of donors. Though we may have escaped the notice of your fine library, it has not escaped ours. By investing in your private enterprise, we hope to engender in you a confidence in public institutions that will lead to future donations or, if you are a not-for-profit organization, then our aim is to provide the sustenance necessary for such organizations to exist! In any event, we hope that such investments will help to spread knowledge of our existence and value through-out the city. Enclosed in this letter is a cheque, redeemable at any city bank, for a grant of 500 silver Nobles to the Momus Athenaeum to be used for the procurement and mantainence of books or the paying of salaries to its employees.
